Default open-door light? (edited) i did it

i posted this up in interior and ice but this has to do with exterior too, i think. i put in my new cf hatch and my open door light doesn't go off. so i need to know whats happening and if any one can help. is there a button like the four side doors or is it in the latching mechanism? b/c i can't use the auto push button lock. i have to manually lock it. and it's annoying seeing the red open door light on the whole time so i just put electrical tape over it.

The hatch is not seating correctly if the door light is not going off. Either that, or the hatch is mis-shaped and doesn't depress the switch. My box is not here right now so I can't go out and look at it but carefully check your installation again.

that would be my thought.... might be a little off on on the inside where it would seal next to the taillights

looked all around and asked too. there is no button for the door to seat on. the latching mech is the button and it latches tightly. everything works so i guess i didn't ground all the ground wire properly and will have to route them to the chassis since cf isn't a coductor. thaks guys.

just tried it and didn't work. i took all the ground wiring that was suppose to grounded to the old metal hatch and rerouted them to the chassis. my new grounding point was the hinge and the one of the srew door actuator. so i'm pretty much lost at this point. :? :? :? :? :? :? :? :? :? :?

The light switch should be in the latch mecanism. The striker isn't fully seating in the latch mechanism. Either adjust the striker out some more or trim off some of the rubber snubbers. It's basically only closing on the fist stage of the latch.

really there is more than one stage of the latching system? i hear it latch and clicks. it keeps it close. so does that mean i have to push it farther in? i'll try it in the morning. i would think once it latches that should be it. anyways around this second stage?

"I DID IT!!!" i kinna shifted the latch and pushed the door a little harder. i heard the second click and watched the door light go off. i was histerical. finally i can use my auto lock again. i guess it's like the other doors, there's closed and there's fully closed. thanks for the help guys.
