Default Power Folding Mirrors...

I finally got off my lazy butt and did my power folding mirror mod. They say a picture is worth a thousand words...well in this case I think a bunch of pictures played one after another will be much better. Check it out.

Thanks to Sean (MyBox) for the hook up on the mirrors. Thanks to everyone else who helped make these possible. (You know who you are.)

Ok, so I understand in Japan with narrow parking spaces this can be very usefull, but other than going for that "JDM look" why was this mod usefull?

It is completely usless...I did it because I have always thought the Japanese power folding mirrors were cool and since I am going with a bB theme these would be a nice touch. I tend to march to the beat of a different drummer and like to have unique mods on my box. I have even contemplated converting it over to RHD...

Yes, I used the USDM bases and housings with the JDM motors...(of couse I saved the JDM bases in case I do switch over to RHD )

I dunno.. dont think its super useless... theres ton's of people out there who dont know how/care to park in the middle of the parking spot... they like taking part of the line.... specially large SUV's....

plus.. i've had my mirror broken off before by idiots who can park...(they were nice enough to set it back in place so looked fine till i drove over the speed bump then "plop")... almost 200$ to replace it and the affected pieces

so folding mirrors could save you $$ in the long run...

I geuss that makes sense. What makes me say that: When I have enough money to do a mod like that there's always a million other things I need to do first. I just don't want you guys to think I'm bashing. I like it, but wanted to know the point. I geuss if I start asking that question there will be a lot of things that don't make sense. Sorry bout that all.

Mike,

Don't sweat it brother, I didn't take it as bashing. No reason to be sorry. Always feel free to ask questions that's what makes life interesting. I know what you mean about the mod priority versus the money thing. I jumped on the mirrors when they became available as I knew I wouldn't just be able to buy them anytime or anywhere.

That would be very useful for me, as getting into my garage requires me to fold back the passenger side mirror. How difficult/expensive was this project?

Relatively difficult/relatively expensive. Involves taking your mirrors and the JDM mirrors apart and swapping parts around. You also have to run wires from the switch to each mirror on both sides. Getting the wires into the doors can be tricky. Cost will vary depending how good a deal you can for the JDM mirrors. I paid around $400.00 for mine including the new switch. Don't worry about what color they are as you don't need to use the JDM housings. PM me if you have any detailed questions...

Looks cool. Now if they automatically folded in when you shut the car off.

d@mn... i only paid $250 for mine.... al you need is the motors and the switch anyway... i could care less if the housings and bases were broken or not, although mine were in excellent condition

I have seen on Honda-tech people hooking power mirrors up to their alarm. So when you arm it they fold unlock they open! I have to say I really like them good job
