read the whole thread...

MyBox got a bunch of these in last year and I did a complete walkthrough of an install.

as for a difficulty rating, it is not that bad. (if you can do a stereo, you can do this. it is only two wires.)

this is the guts of it....the only part you'll need

and wiring them to automatically fold with the key/alarm.... is just a lil bit harder.

i love mine. keeps them safe in the hood, garage, tight spaces....

Thanks to Sean (MyBox) for the hook up on the mirrors. Thanks to everyone else who helped make these possible. (You know who you are.)
one question... did you retrofit the motors onto the US mirror bases? so that they will be angled US correct.... you'll know what im talkin about if you did... i did mine months ago
i must have gotten lucy with my JDM bases...no angle issues for me.
although i did switch over to the USDM bases after a few months cause one cracked.

did you guys have an issue with one of the screws on the drivers mirror base not having something to screw into???

i did... i took a small screw driver and slid it all the way into the peice on the jdm mirror housing and broke it off at the base... then screwed it onto the motor frame then put one layer of 3m double sticky btween the housing and the broken off tab... it took some of the virbation out of the mirror when driving

i used both of the jdm mirrors on mine... i find them way easier to see out of... i barely ever have to turn my head to see whats around me.... i hated that stupid american idiot warning as well... i had windowtint take some light blue tint, the equivalent of the JDM toyota blue rain glass option, and tint mine last weekend and that made them even easier to see out of... haven't tried them in the rain yet but it is going to rain today and i will report

Okay not a bash statment. I understand what you guys are saying with the folding mirror option being useless, it doesn't do much but fold. But you have to understand, this man is going for the JDM look. This option really seperates him from the rest of the USDM XB trying to be JDM bB. This gets him one step closer to completing his JDM theme. Again i'm not bashing. But I'm guessing that this is what he is going for (JDM theme).

Before owning my white XB I drove a EF (91 Crx). They also had this folding mirror option along with a whole lot of different parts that seperated the JDM CRX from the USDM version (panoramic glass roof, climate control, etc.). All i'm saying is it seperates you from the rest of the crowd. Just look around on this forum, how many people have some type of Halo Headlights. Now try to see how many folding mirrors you can find on this forum. I only know of a handful of people that have done this conversion. So it is a worth while upgrade if your trying to be outside the BOX!

Again this is just my opinion!

Yes, I cut the mounting base from the USDM mirror that holds these screws from the manual folding part and screwed it down to the USDM housing. It is the part that has the places for the metal tabs on the USDM mirror glass to recess into. I was curious if anybody else had issue...

Hey, my mommie taught me how to cross the street the right way and it stuck all these years.... Glad you laughed, my wife gave me that "What in the wide, Wide World of Sports is going on here?" look...I keep reminding her that I could be watching NASCAR and swilling beer while I scratched myself on the couch instead of modding my box...

nice mod, liked the video - has Hollywood called yet? I'm looking for mirrors to replace the stock ones, because they seem to be too small to really see well in. Any suggestions besides these?

i am using the factory toyota japan glass from my power folding mirrors and i can see so much more, since they are designed for right hand drive when you are on the left side and they are adjusted correctly it does wonders as far as seeing, I do not know how to technically explain the convexness of the mirrors but i can say it has helped me a lot. you have to get used to them but after a few days they are fine.

you can purchase toyota japan blue rain mirrors from newscionparts.com

Got mine on yesterday. Pretty freakin' SLICK! Man I've been lusting after this mod since I first saw them on an Escalade several years ago.

Anyway, question for others that have these and have used the USDM mounts on them. Does one side fold flatter than the other for you? Is that normal or did I screw things up badly? My driver's side doesn't fold quite as flat as my passenger side.

Anyone, anyone........

that is normal and is not an easily fixable thing, an attempt at fixing this could ruin your mirror motors. the motor on the driver side is compensating for the JDM base which has more of an angle for Right Hand Drive and the passenger side actually stops itself in the US base. they have automatic relays in them, if you stop one with your hand half way in/out it will stop there, also if you leave them folded out and shut the car off them manually push them in when you turn the car back on it will automatically push them back out, or if you fold them in then shut off the car and push the button to fold them back out it will do the same

Totally normal. Fear not good brother!! The passenger (right side in US) mirror is angled in more in it's normal position so the driver can see out of it correctly. So when they fold, the right side comes in more. It's all due to the angles and seating position relative to the mirror. It's the main reason you don't want to use the JDM bases. They are the exact opposite. The left side angles in more because it is actually the passenger side in Japan. You won't be able to adjust them properly to see out of. I can't remember if the manual ones folded in the same amount...guess I never will!!

Edit: Sorry superfreestyle, I was typing mine as you posted yours. Didn't mean to step on your transmission...I would however not reccomend manually folding your mirrors ever!!! Someone on here learned the hard way when he stripped a worm gear doing so...(not me, but it did happen)

Ok, the folding option is cool. but you know, several cars have them. I have to admit, mine does not.

I was really impressed with these mirrors I recently saw on a new Saab A8. those things rotated vertically! The motion effectively placed the mirrors out of harm's way. thought it was cool...
