Default the rear window and dust...

ok, i am somewhat obsessive when it comes to having a clean car. but, if i miss a wash, or it's extremely dusty out, i wanna know...how bad is the xB's rear window about picking up dust? looking at the shape, it seems to me like it's gonna suck keeping the back of this thing clean. also, i don't know if it will make much of a difference, but i won't have a spoiler on the bck of mine. it's staying clean.

It picks up dust easily. Can't really do much on this one. Just have to was the hatch every other 3 days to keep it clean.

its like a a river with a rock... eddy swirls form behind the rock. Same thing with the xB. Air swirls behind the xB makin the hatch the dirtiest part.

Default ....Clean Machine.....

I installed the FABULOUS Spoiler and I have noticed about a 25% reduction in dirt on my back hatch window. I clean the windows in my garage after most trips to work or on an errand. The paper towels I use show how much dirt is stuck to the window.
The same distance driven will pick up less of that road dirt, as shown by the paper towels.
And, when doing the windows, do the back window last because it is the dirtiest.

See now thats what I was thinking. I was wondering if a flared lip body kit, plus the Fab poiler would break up the air pocket some.

Ahhh yeah, dust. Around here it's awful, especially on a day like today where the winds are sustained at 20+ and gusts are 30+ mph. With my xB being BOP, it shows all the dust and drives me nuts. The best & easiest thing I've found to use is one of the California Duster things. I thought were a gimmick, but I got one as a birthday present and let me tell you it really works and works well. It works good on every part of the car (including the windows). I use it several times a day (when necessary) and if/when I wear this one out I'll definitely being getting another one. You might try giving this a shot if you don't have one already.

In my experiences, the Fab spoiler didn't help anything. The dust is coming up from the bottom. It needs a rear spoiler that actually sticks up slightly above the roofline and forces air down. of course that will add drag...

i will wash my car 3 times i day before i put a spoiler on my xB. sorry, but i don't like em. and as far as cleaning the glass and order and what not, i use invisible glass from stoner. works like you wouldn't believe. i use newspaper with it to avoid streaks, and when i do my windows, i use a fresh newspaper for each window. spray it on there, wad up newspaper, rub it around real good, flip newspaper, wipe good, unwad, rewad to dry side, repeat until window is completely dry and you're dragging the dry newspaper across the dry window.i guess you could use one of those squeeges, too. with the foam scrubber sponge on one side.

The OEM spoiler does a decent job of keeping the dust off the window. The lower hatch gets dirtier than the window does and I belive I can attribute it to the spoiler.

The best part is when i do dry it, then drive to wherever and all the water in the door jams, cracks in the bumper, gas cap area all comes out and gets me right in the a$$. I'm going to get one of those air tools that blows the air out and hook it up to my tank for my bags, blow all that shiz out of there

i always dry my door jambs, pop my trunk and dry all that, open the gas lid, and pop the hood and dry all that. also, open and shut em a few times to help rattle some of that water out. another thing you can use is a leafblower. i use one when i dry mine, and depending on how good of a wax job you have, the water should bead right off. with the leafblower, you can blow most of the water out of the little cracks.

Drying the door jams makes my towels are dirty and i'm not sure how to wash the microfiber towels .... i only use them to dry the "clean" water off the outside, then i rinse them out a couple times and dry them in the dryer on a medium setting ... I used one once to try to dry out the door jams and it's all stained up now, how can i "safely" wash it? I heard about the leafblower one, last time i washed my car i went to use mine to blow the water all out and i couldn't get it started (figures, POS) . Anyhow, thanks for the help
