Transparant Lexan hood for 1st Gen xB?
Can you get Lexan as a liquid resin even, or only in sheets? As a liquid, I think keeping an even thickness would be the hardest part, you'd need a top and bottom mold then fill completely in between. Also, I'm not sure about how to get bubbles out.
^you know... It sounds complicated to me too... and I'm not sure how it's gonna get done, BUT I CAN'T WAIT!
The dealer has 2 part numbers for the hood. It's a 2 layer hood. The top SHOULD be able to be taken off.
I don't know anything about how the plastic is going to be made/molded, but the stock frame could definitely be used.
Cosmetically, it wouldn't look AS cool as a completely clear hood, but I think they'd both kick ___...
I guess we'll see what happens!

Not one that really knows about plastic's but I do know that our company when making large plates of plexing glass we make a buck of our pattern andhten send it to be heated and draped onto our buck. Once laid onto our buck, it's shaped and then cooled to give us our final product.
I'm sure having a extra hood, one can use it as a buck. Only problem is you'd need a large enough heating table.

Arc do you mind if i do what they do for the plates i can heat the plastic but i dont know if it will hurt the paint but if i put something on the paint it will interfer with the molding lol Just want to know what you want me to do and what you dont want me to do to the hood of yours. Also i cant wait till it gets here so i can get started.

but I'd remove your phone# from your post if I were you... for safety's sake.
but yeah, it'd be cool if you cut the center out, but if it messes with the stability, or is too time hard, don't worry about itQ
