Advice needed: Looking to buy a used Scion xB 2004 manual..
Hey guys
Brand new to the scion scene.., my brother has an xB 04, and I' am looking to get one finally..
Well, it seems family used. I haven't actually seen the car yet, but I'm going to tomorrow.
Here is the ad..
What, if anything, should I be looking out for on a 40k milage car? Any "common" problems from the 2004 series xB that I should look out for?
Well, thanks in advance for yoru help.

For sale, 2004 Scion xB sport wagon. 5 spd, Power everything, first owner, private sale. Brand new brakes, brand new tires. The wheels in the pictures come with the car, they are Konig Heliums, only 10lbs/wheel. I installed these to get even better gas mileage. Also has factory rear spoiler, and factory foglamps. We love this car alot, but with additions to the family, we are opting for minivan. Car is in good condition, excellent mechanical condition, 40k mileage, exterior/interior normal wear.
Well, thanks in advance for yoru help.

IMHO.......
go get a new '06.5..
reason being that the interest rate is much lower and easier to get than on an used older model... and you are only talking about a 2 to 4k price difference ...the payments will be the same or even less.
these boxes really have held up in their resale value....just avoid getting any "dealer bling" options except mebbe the aftermarket cruise [Rosta]that way you may get dealer warrenty perks on the cruise
everything else is available on the aftermarket @ 1/2 the dealer price.
wife drove mine just 3 times.......now we have 2!

$11k is a damn good price for only have'n 13k miles...
be sure to run the carfax, and really look it over .ie: any off colors, interior damage or loose trim..also... if the engine seems a bit "odd"...run an oil sample...(if need be just go to any 18 wheeler dealer and ask for an oil sample kit.
when was the build date?,, does it have controls on the steering wheel? if it does then it is a '06.5
also vsc, abs, and track control are standard features,
good luck and we wanna see the PIC'S!

As you can see from my avatar, I got my car today!
The story was that the seller had an mr2 turbo and a scion xb and couldnt' decide which one to buy, so I guess I decided for him. After checking out the car last night at 10pm, he knew I was pretty committed to it and I was not bluffing when I said I had the cash..
So he called me earlier this morning and said that he was off, and wanted to know if I wanted to buy it. I gave him a restonding yes and the rest was history. He drove up 30 miles to where I live and met me at a BofA. I gave him a certified cashier's check, got a bill of sale and copies of the title transfer paper from Toyota Financial Services that he was going to fax in tomorrow and I got the keys to the car.
I am stoked, although I am new at driving stick, (never drove one throughout my 10 years of driving), I managed to only stall the car twice while parking and starting on a uphill.
I'll take pictures after I wash it and vacuum the interior (he did an okay job on it, but I'm moreorless extremely happy with the car; a couple of small scrapes here and there, but nothing too extreme). I did see a crack on the windshield (passenger side) when I was looking at it last night, and he went to the dealer to try to get it repaired, but no go..
so he took off $250 from the price. Final price for this car was $10750.
The car is a '06, without the audio control options on the steering wheel.. oh well, can't win them all..
Not too bad at all!
Now I can finally sleep tonight ;)
