Not true has the same engine as the xb 1,496cc other stats

The Matrix is a US only model! Ok I think Canada gets them too but they are not sold in Japan. They do get a version of the Pontiac Vibe called the Toyota Voltz but they are made alongside the US models here and not in Japan.
well sorta the vibe/voltz is built at NUMMI in norcal (allongside the corolla) the matrix is actually built in canada. funny huh?

i only know because i was mad close on a vibe (gm family discount) and i was gonna do a voltz conversion that would have been weird and ____ed everyone off. kind of like the xB. J/K!

Nummi plant is down the road from me, right off of fremont Blvd. They are my noisey neighbors. They have a tour there too, I took it in high school.

Okay....

04 Matrix XR AWD 2943lbs 123hp
04 Matrix XR FWD 2778lbs 130hp
04 xB FWD 2400lbs 108hp

So if you add 175 lbs to 2400 lbs xB that would be around 2575 with 108hp vs. 2943 with 123 lbs on Matrix. That's 17HP diff between xB and Matrix AWD and the Matrix is about 375 lbs heavier. So power to weight ratio will be close to 04 Matrix's power to weight ratio.

I think it's going to be slow but not painfully slow where you have to go 35MPH going up to Tahoe.
it's not just about horsepower ratings, it's also the engine size and torque power deilivery. although the idea of a supercharged/turbocharged AWD xB does get me excited!! heck, I'll even take an AWD xA! tarmac stage here I come!!

Even if they don't bring the car over here, it would be interesting to see what it'd take to convert one of our xBs with the awd system... I could see someone with a turbo upgrade needing the extra traction... not to mention the bragging rights! Providing the floor pans are the same, you'd just need the transaxle, driveshaft, and rear assemblies- and do they come with rear discs? That would be one _____in' swap, even if it's low on power- look at some of the pigs Subaru and Audi put out in the 80s and 90s with awd!
