Default Babyseat (God, I'm getting Old)

I haven't been able to find any info on this. Will a babyseat fit in the backseat? This will be my wifes car and before I sign the paper work I'm doing some research.
TIA,
6

BTW- Great BBS, if we end up with an xA, I'll definately be spending some time here, although I don't need another message board to keep up with. :D

your welcome.but if you want to feel more sure of your purchase, is take the carseat to the dealership and tell them that you want to see how the car seat will sit in the back seat of the XA.............

My 13 month old fits just fine in his forward-facing child seat. I mounted it in the middle of the rear seat to offer a bit more protection in case of a side impact but neither seat top will fold down as a result. There are LATCH mounting points on the rear seat bottom and top to make the mounting secure. It's a bit of a tight fit getting him in however if the front seats are all the way back, or reclined.

Hope this helps.

This is good advice. My wife loved a car that she testdrove, but it had leather and a weak seatbelt system, IMO. I couldn't get the seat secure enough in there to allow her to take my son for the test drive, so even though she liked the car we didn't get it. (woo hoo)

IMO, I would strongly recommend the xB for your family since you have a baby. My wife and I are so happy with its roomy interior.

Don't forget that you'll need baby stroller few months later. I don't think you can fit both the stroller and carseat in xA.

I have the Brita carseat and Maclaren stroller in my box and still have plenty room for three passengers.

The car is good to go for up to 4 child seats - 1 passenger, 3 rear. The manual nauturally recommends not putting a small kid in the front passenger seat due to air bag.

---

Three across in the rear if you're seats strap in. If they latch in with two hooks, then you've got both outer rear seats to fill. If you strap in over the top of the seat to behind the rear seat hooks, then you've got three positions.

All said, you have room to stick a kid back there + fold down one side of the rear seat to put in a stroller.

A 30" LCD panel in box from Microcenter.com fits right into one half the xA with rear seat down, so you can fit two strollers and no kid or one stroller and kids in fine.

But you're say you're getting old... If your kids need car seats, you're not old. My son got his drivers lisence this week...

The real question for us older folks is... will my WALKER fit in the back with the seats folded down???

Walker.

Sure, I'll bet. I've seen a few at the hospital, and they look like they'll fit just fine with the rear seats down. As long as they don't exceed the front to back length (not likely, walkers aren't that tall), they'll go in just fine. Luckily the hatch opens up wide to accept a walker (you might have to figure out a hatch strap if it's too high for you however).

Best bet here is to make sure the front passenger seat is all the way forward so you can get a longer item in w/o any problems.

If you want, measure a walker top to bottom and all around and I'll measure out the xA.

As for wheelchairs and disabled - see Toyota Japan's website for the Ist under the Wellcab section. They've got wheelchair mounts, rotating front seats (90 degrees facing out), etc. to help you out.

I know this is an old thread but it is the only one I could find with the same question...
Does anyone know of any child seats that fit in the xA that you don't have to have the front seat all the way forward? I have a customer that has an xA and they can't seem to find a car seat that fits. If anyone could help me out that would be great...Thank you!!

You might want to go to the dealer and do two (2) things:

* Read the Owners Manual - lots on car seats in there
* Bring your car seat with you for a test fit and drive.

I brough the car seat to numerous test drives. Also let's you see who the patient sales people are as you fit it in safely. When they appear annoyed it is time to leave for another dealer.

NEVER put a child seat in the front seat. Jeez!
