Getting in the car the other day I noticed a fuzzed up patch of fabric on the right side of my seat. I was really ____ed. I've had the car a month and the upholstery is fraying? What kind of cheap ___ fabric is this, I wonder? So I go back in the house and grab a towel to put on the seat. Oh, like that doesn't look totally redneck.

Then, as I was putting away laundry today, I realized what caused the fraying. I have some cargo shorts with velcro tabs on the back pockets. If I don't line things up just so, some of the velcro is exposed so it snags and rubs the seat, particularly when I swivel to get out.

Lesson learned.

 

Yeah, same issue on the back seat headrest of our vehicle from the velcro on my daughters carseat. Will happen with most fabrics if your not careful.I have cargo shorts with velcro tabs as well and have never had any issues with the front seats though (knock on wood).

 

i had a similar problem but i fixed it. now im not repsonsible if you screw this up but i used a quattro shaving razor and shaved the snags off. no joke it looks 100% like new. my cat had clawed my seat backs to fluff them up i supposed, i bunch of little snags. the razor took them right off. i shaved my seats just like i'd shave my face. really cool trick

 

You didn't use shaving lotion and after-shave did you?

Yeah, I've done a similar thing before with electric hair clippers.

 

same thing happened to me within a month in the passenger seat , i just used a lighter a burned the frays away, it dosent look bad now but it doesnt stop it from happening again.

 

Noticed at 2500 miles that there was a faded white spot on my passenger seat bolster. I rest my open hand on the bolster once I hit fifth. Any suggestions on this one? Wow, thin sheet metal and now fabric that is, er, delicate.

 

Is it faded, or is it dirt trapped by accumulated body oil?

 

WHAT have you been doing with that hand before you "rest" it there?! White spots?!

Same issue on both topics. The fuzzing with the seat, no velcro, just alot of in and out. The white spot on other side of seat really sucks, that is why we are all _____en about haveing an armrest. AND NO! its not white from cronik spanking.

 

Well . . . . there is some degree of high speed spankage involved :oops: but actually I took a hand towel and rubbed it out. Some kind of weird lay of grain in the fabric, I guess. Same as the fake carbon fiber on the doors and dash. Surely, everybody has noticed that.

I mean, I LOVE me box--don't get that wrong. It's still a hell of a value.

 

you got ripped on that FAKE carbon fiber too? Dealer only told me about a "Carbon fiber dash kit"

same thing happened to me on my drivers seat so im just gonna put a recaro :twisted: and cover it the same as the stock fabric that way i am the only one that knows its a comfy recaro

 

My drivers seat material is stretching from getting in and out of the car. Looks like fabric is really loose. got a snag on th Driver door fabric. Causght a loop with a fingernail. I know it is a cheap car but the cloth they use is wearing awfully fst for cars not yet a year old. Samr with the floor mats.
