During the winter times,is there anyway to get it so the a/c doesn't turn on automatically when I'm using the defrost setting? Does it even come on with the temp guage maxed in red?

 

Can't you just push the A/C button so the light goes off? I would think Scion would have thought about that.

 

The light doesn't come on at all,but I know it's running. During the summer when it would rain I would turn the defrost/floor on and even without the blower It would get chilly and even frost up my windsheild. I am just wondering if it cuts off automatically at a certain temp setting or not?

 

The a/c is made to run in defrost mode to keep the compressor from locking up due to lack of use and to help remove the humidity in the cold damp air.

 

How much power do you lose(estimated) with the compressor running full on?

 

Sounds like a question for someone with access to a chassis dyno and a stock xB or xA
