I am in the market for a new car, I really should get a small pickup but I don't care for trucks and I like small hatch back type cars, and the xB seems like it might be a good choice. One thing that keeps me from buying is my concern about towing with a xB. I race karts and I need a vehicle that can tow both of my karts.

My main kart for racing is a 125 shifter, I also have a non-shifter GX200 offset chassis kart. Both karts, the trailer, all the spares and tools should weigh 800 pounds or less. I don't have to carry all the tools and spare parts on the trailer. I could get the loaded trailer weight down to around 600.

Is the scion up to the task of hauling my karts around? Keep in mind I live in the Tennessee valley and will encounter a considerable amount of hills.

 

you CAN but you shouldn't, no scion is built to tow anything. it says it in the manual and on the site.

 

I have a buddy who tows his trackmagic around with a pt cruiser, different car, but similar idea. I've seen a pic of a guy pulling a jet ski with his, aswell as a guy pulling a camping/tag along thing.

Like stated above, not recommended in owners manual, but your only talking a few hundread pounds here. Finding a hitch might be another story....

 

They do make hitches for the xB and as long as you keep the weights under control you can do it fine. A 5 spd. would be the best bet because of the final gearing. You would just need to stay out of overdrive and downshift as needed like most any other vehicle that is used for towing. There are a few topics on this subject but I don't have the links. Or just go to U-Haul and they will install and wire up a hitch, and guarantee it.
