Default Concerned xB owner

I write this because I am concerned for the well being of my car. This has to do with the glass on the car. I posted before about my scratched windshield. The scratch follows the arc of the wiper. It is getting longer. WTF? This is considered normal wear and tear with 13K on the clock? I also noticed numerous scratches on my RR door window both horizontal AND vertical. So I suppose this is normal wear and tear also? I WAS planning on showing the car this year but am having second thoughts cuz I like the car to look it's best and scratched windows don't cut it in my book. The car has also developed a "noise" from the tranny. Almost sounds like the bearings on the clutch. What do I do? I like my car very much but am becoming disappointed at the same time. I won't complain about the window chips and front end damage from rock( and do mean rocks) on the road. I do live in the city center of strip pits and gravel trucks. I will be addressing this with the dealer. I hope there will be some understanding about this for I am not too happy about the wear and tear of this vehicle. Maybe I bought the wrong car to drive daily.

Ummm........ Scratches happen, regardless of what type of car you own. As for the "noise" you hear, if there's something wrong your dealer will fix it. I'm not sure what you're freaking out about.

scratches on a window on the inside that doesn't really get wiped down that often? I don't buy it. My 114K second car deosn't have a scratch on any window and this car made trips from Chicago to Cali and back as well as a trip down the entire west coast. The paint faded before I got a messed up window. I don't buy it.

Mileage has nothing to do with wipers and windshield. It is how OFTEN you use them that matters. I'll bet someone in Seattle uses their wipers more in a month than a Phoenix driver does in 2 years.

Did you get a lot of ice and snow this winter? Did the trucks salt the roads often? The mix they use contains salt, sand, and other grit. All it takes is for the car in front of you to kick up a little of that slop and getting a piece of that hard grit to get under the wiper and...ziiiip... a scratch. Then should any more grit catch in the scratch, the wiper could drag it along the channel of the scratch and make the scratch longer.

You had plans on showing this car? Sounds like you get it washed frequently. Do you wash it yourself or take it to a place to get it done? Horizontal and vertical scratches on the window are an indication to me that they were scratched while being washed. Vertical-only scratches MIGHT be caused by the internal mechanism, but I highly doubt it. Horizontal AND vertical scratches are something else.

There's rocks, gravel, and grit on the road and you don't think that THAT has anything to do with the scratches?!

Nope, sounds like maybe you live in the wrong place to drive a nice car daily. Seriously, what vehicle other than a Bradley Fighting Vehicle could hold up to that stuff?
