Default Dealer Options you like.....

I've always though the xB's were sweet looking cars and now that we're in the market to buy a new car I've decided its going to be an 06' xB ;)

How can you go wrong for 15k and 30+ mpg with Consumer Reports recommending this Box?!

I'm glad I found this forum.. it seems to be a wealth of information. If only every car had this kind of following.. or maybe every car should be this nice and then it would?

Anyways, just curious what you guys feel are the needed dealer accessories? The only ones I was planning on getting are the fog lights and the spoiler... although I'm still not sold on either. I like it both with and without the spoiler.

Just wanted to get some other opinions on it.

I'd also love to see some pics of others xB's to get an idea on color. The dealers around me (Michigan) never have any in stock so it's hard to get an idea of what the colors look like.... I'm leaning towards the BCP, but apparently it won't be available for the 06 models.

Thanks ahead,

Guy

Spoiler, CAI, fogs. Those are the toughest to install. Everything else is pretty basic or too overpriced for what can be had in the aftermarket.

Only things I'd get from the dealer are: Fogs, floor mats and spoiler. If they throw in a nice deal on aftermarket wheels jump on it.

Wish I got the spoiler though...

Unless you want to finance the cost in with the xB, don't get any dealer installed options. They can all be found for almost half the price online. Most are easy to install yourself with the exception of the spoiler which requires drilling...something I'm not brave enough to do on a new car. I installed the fogs myself in less than 15 minutes.

I installed my spoiler. It was not tough, but I hated drilling holes in my new car. A couple beers took the edge off and I got it done no prob. It it nearly perfect, less than a millimeter off center. I'd have the dealer do it if I had it to do over, not worth the stress.

I agree with the Nutt, get the $120 floor mats if you want to support your dealer, but all other mods can be had aftermarket at a huge savings. Even floor mats can be had for about $70. But you may not get a pair with the floor hooks that keep them in place.
You will love the box, get your choise of transmission and color in writing with any deposit. Search around ScionLife and see how to drop in a set of fog lights for $217.
The spoiler may need a body shop to help you but you will still save money and there are some cool spoilers that Scion does not offer, see fabulus spoiler.

Go online and get some floor mats. I also like the door sills.

Those are hard to install, indeed. But I think the hardest to install, and the most important one to get from the dealer, is the leather steering wheel.

First, I don't think I've ever been this excited about getting a car... well maybe when I was 16 and I got that first car. I leased a Lincoln LS three years ago when I graduated from college and it was the WORST decision I've ever made. As a result of that POS and going over my miles by about 40k I'm stuck driving a Mountaineer for $500 a month and paying $400 a month in gas.... I could own another damned house if I didn't have this behemoth. However, the fiance will be driving the Mountaineer, as she really doesn't drive... and I get the sweet lil Box!!!! Of the friends I've told I'm getting it only one likes it, although everyone likes the price/mpg, but I love the looks of this thing. Seems its one of those products that you either Love or Hate.

I have finally settled on a color at least... going with pw, and I've decided I don't want the spoiler... I really love the angles on this thing and it takes away from that for me.

So the fogs can be easily done? I'm glad there's no drilling involved in that... I can't fathom putting a drill to this thing... beer? I'd have to be heavily sedated to do some ____ like that.. and i'm guessing it wouldn't exactly help ;)

I really love how there is this passionate group of helpful people that drive these things... and we're helping out this countries ridiculous dependency on oil by driving something that gets this kind of gas mileage ;)

So what are the best sites for mods? Or should I just stick with ebay?

I'm planning on tinting the windows... upping the wheels to at least 16" with some nice rims, and putting in a new stereo in, but what's the max size on wheels you can go while still maintaining the turning radius?

Also, and pics of different grill optioms people have done? I really want to get that done right away as well.

Thanks again... tons of questions, but this seems like the place for it ;)

on a side note, poopie being substituted for $hit is outstanding...

I didn't realize how important dealer options were for this car. I should have gotten them as soon as I financed my car.

Fogs and the sport muffler are easy to install and it'll save you the couple of finance bucks it takes to install. I bought foglights away from the dealership. Used my 50$ card on the TRD muffler.

Perhaps the best things to get while at the dealership are the suspensions, wing, and intake... thats about it.

Most say 18"s are the largest to go while keeping stock tire diameter. 18s give a harsh ride when lowered. 16s or 15s keep it smooth.

Door sills look awesome. Get them somehow... through a dealer or online. They take about three seconds to install, and are very hard to screw up. I would get the mats through the dealer to get the clips which hold them in place. They're nice.

Stay away from the bazooka, security, and the cargo cover. These are the most complained about items on this site, mainly due to their cost vs. aftermarket systems.

Hi,

Here's some info on the fogs and the installs are in the upper right hand corner, so you can get a better idea about doing them yourself. Hope that helps with the decision. Be sure to register for our Free Gift Certificate Drawings on the home page.

Dealer mark up is a killer ,even on line Toyota parts are very expensive.
