Door lock actuators
Can anyone tell me if the front door lock actuators are interchangeable? Can I use a passenger door actuator on the drivers side is what i am asking. My drivers side is not working, but I have an extra passenger side actuator.
Oh, sorry. 2004 xB
Thanks, Jim

Is the drivers lock not working? or only going up half way? I ask because the gen 1 drivers lock is known not to fully unlock in cold teemps.
Sorry i can't answer your question as i'm not sure if they are interchangeable.

Thanks for the reply. I am pretty sure it is the actuator. Locks work smoothly with little resistance when operating it with key or manually. The drivers door does not work at all with key fob or electric switch, the other doors all work fine any way they are operated.
I just happen to have an extra one from passenger door, but don't want to take it all apart just to check it out and then have to order a mesons and do it all over again in a week.
Thanks for any help, Jim

Maynot work, they have 2 different part# for the actuator assembly for the front right + left door. But, it is a fast easy job to replace, just 2 screws + electric connector after the door panel is off. Go visit clubxb.com to see more the blogs on xB actuator, they may mention it.
Good Luck

Hi,
The actuators are mirror images between right and left... The front and rear ones are not the same from what I have seen....
I just replaced my driver's side rear door actuator with a universal one off ebay....I followed the DIY writeup from the other xB site. The kit doesn't include some of the screws you will need to mount the universal actuator.... The writeup does a nice job.

I JUST REPLACED MINE A FEW MONTHS BACK!!!!!
The driver side door lock stopped working. It would not go up or down when I hit the FOB. My lights also did not flash when I hit the lock/unlock.
I went to Sparks Toyota's website and ordered a DRIVERS SIDE DOOR LOCK ACTUATOR and installed it myself. It costs like 100 bucks shipped. Maybe 110.
Worked like a charm.
The screws for the actuator are hard to get to and small. You take off the panel and reach in and unscrew the screws inside the door. Pull out old, put in new.
There's a write up floating around that I looked at. Search the web for it.
