I have noticed that when my g/f tries to get in the car too fast (pulling the handle as I hit unlock) the door lock will be 1/2 way up. Even if I press unlock again it stays in the same position. To fix this I have to hit lock, then unlock...
Does that make sense??

Yes, it only gets halfway locked and jams. By fully locking it first it un-jams it and allows it to work properly again. Good call!HMRNBOX!

One of ours does the same thing @ the PS front door. I can force it to stick by locking the door & then pulling the inside handle. Then, it won't unlock until I go try the outside handle. Took it in to the local dealership and they 'adjusted' one of the actuator rods. Tried the above trick and it still sticks, so they ordered me a new actuator. Should be in this week, I'll post back and let you know if it helps.

something similar just started with mine. Driver door only.
Sometimes the latch won't catch when I'm shutting the door.
Sometimes the latch wont release from the inside.
Have to pull the external door handle, once or twice then it's all good.

EDIT* moving the door lock up and down does nothing for my door.
So far, it's only lifting the outside handle that resets it.

I know the exact problem... and the solution. Push it down, then up, and it'll unlock.

*edit* sorry for the repeat, helps top read if people answer already.

Here's my update as promised. This morning, my dealer installed the new actuator and sent me on my way. Upon checking, the lock still sticks so I went back. They said since the car has been wrecked before that they cannot keep replacing parts and I may have to take this up with the body shop. The service writer and tech are however supposed to open a tech case with Scion/Toyota to get all the measurements and angles for the actuator/rods to check all that before they wash their hands of the situation.

I hate to mess with your thread but it is somewhat similar. I got my xB a few months ago and the door locks dont seem to make sense to me, if i hit up on the button the doors lock(the tab goes down) if i hit down the tab goes up and the doors unlock, seems backwards to me, and even the picture seems backwards is it the same on everyone else's up is down, down is up?

Yes!!! This drove me nuts at first becuase my Ranger is the oppisite, so I was always locking instead of unlocking...who thought of this?!

LOL!! I said the exact same thing when we got our first box. Went so far as to call all my friends to make them go check their (various) cars.

Yeah it has been massive annoying it takes me like 10 seconds just to think about which way is which and every once in a while i second guess myself and do the wrong thing anyway. Ive actually thought about opening up my door panel and seeing if i can rewire it, it is crazy annoying.

LMAO! Ya know, you'd think they'd learn after the first 4000 times they do it!!
It reminds me of the stand-up skit by Kevin James (aka Doug Heffernan from King of Queens). Fast forward to minute 7:00:
