Default Electrical gremlins ACK!!!

My xb was involved in a rear ender job back in december. about 3200 in damage and repair. just a few days ago my door ajar light is on. Everything is closed and the interior light isnt on. i open the trunk hatch and notice the light blinks. i clos the trunk hatch with the light on and drive off. later on during the drive, the light dims/fades away with time and the light is off. Overnight the light comes back on and the same thing happened. but the light was very very dim then its off now.

im guessing its the latch but i can't take it toyota because the problem isnt there anymore. should i worry about it or tell toyota about it. and im out of factory warranty and im now on my extended warranty term. is their a deductable and how much is it? i almost went to toyota when the light was on but i wasnt sure if i had to pay a deductable or not. i was riding around with 3 bucks that day :-P

thanks for reading. any info would be very helpful

Your best bet is to look at and around the door sensor (which, by the way, is independent of the latch).

is the sensor in the rear hatch itself?

More then likely this was caused by the wreck. Most insurance companies warranty the work performed, so should the body shop. I take it back to them and see what they say.

I wrecked a car once, about 2 months after it was repaired they master cylinder started pouring fluid...The insurance covered it as it had been cracked in the wreck.

IIRC, the sensor is a black rubber thing mounted near the edge of the door on the body of the car.
