Default It finnaly happend...

One day I was driving and noticed that my windshild had...CRACKED , it has two little cracks under the passenger windshild wiper, it was probably one of those loud noises that you hear going down the highway and you look around and see nothing. I have finnaly joined the cracked windshild club...

Welcome to the club. Depending upon who your insurance is, they'll repair it for free.

Give em a call... find out about glass claims.
When mine got a crack, Geico sent Safelite out for free. No charge or anything for the repair and if it needed to be replaced outright it would've only been $50.

I had mine replaced last winter. I specified I wanted a factory windshield and it was NP with my insurance, no charge, plus free dinners at a local restaurant. There may not be a difference in quality one way or another, but mine does have the Toyota stampings. If you are a purist, it doesn't hurt to ask.

yeah I noticed that I have a few as welll...I cringe when I hear the "whack" too.

-good thing this isn't a chipped front-of-hood-thread. Prolly not enough band width to support alla the responses that would be made!

Just caught the Death Blow crack to my Uber-Windshield last week. The rock hit so hard I literally ducked! I've had close to a dozen cracks and dings in it, the first one when it was 3 weeks old (Jan 04) and none of them grew or split. This one had grown 4-5 inches by the time I got home. The impact mark is over half an inch long and there was glass powder and fragments all in it still. It also caught the hood for a few small scratches on its way to the windshield.

haha. Almost 100K, mostly on Bay Area freeways. It looks like it's been sandblasted besides all the cracks.
