Default front spoiler/lip in the snow

Last week when it finally snowed here in Chicago, I went through an intersection that must have just been sort of plowed through and the snow plow truck left a huge strip of ice/snow in the middle of the road. It was probably about 2 feet high and my front lip slammed into it. It sounded like it was more that white fluffy snow....has anyone else had this problem? Anyone hit stuff because their ride is lowered? Do I dare lower my xB and have this happen more than once or twice a season?
