Default Got crunched by a Dodge Ram 1500 today...

Um, ouch and all that.

I stopped for a PD squad car with flashing lights and the truck driver behind me wasn't paying attention. Totaled?

I dropped $600 on new lights and a grill yesterday, but fortunately, the store I ordered from canceled the order because my paypal shipping address wasn't verified. Glad something worked out in my favor.

My insurance company had me in a new G-6 rental almost right away and I have a Dr. appt. on Monday. I think I have a light concussion, but other than that, I'm just sore. The force of the impact pushed me across an intersection into on coming traffic. Thankfully there was no one to bounce off of in these lanes.

It was also 115 degrees today, at 1:30 when I was standing on the side of the road with my EDC bag, work tool bag, two computer towers, tools, etc. Moving gear around in this heat sucks!

i absolutely hate trucks. especially when its a whit f150 with an old guy driving, causes 5k in damage, tries to run, then accuses your mom that it was her fault.

hopefully you get a massive medical settlement so that you can find another box just like yours and not have to worry about the money to purchase it.

Sadly, it doesn't look good for the box. At least you're doing okay.

Was the other driver one of those braindead rednecks who went home and said "GEE-GAWRSH, MA, IT'S A GOOD THING I WAS DRIVIN' THEM-THAR TRUCK! OTHERWISE I MIGHTA BEEN KEELED!"

I hope you pointed out that if he'd been driving a normal vehicle or a reasonable pickup, as common sense would dictate, that you probably wouldn't have gone skipping into oncoming traffic.

Dodge Rams are as unreliable and driver-unfriendly as they are dangerous to other cars - there's no good reason to own one. Even without knowing that the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety determined that more people are killed by Rams than any other vehicle, any person who looks at that grille height and still thinks it's a good purchase is playing with other peoples' lives.

Glad you're okay...it could have been much, much worse. Good luck in the courts!

Beg to differ. Owned a diesel for 5 yrs; it can tow over 11k better than any Scion out there. All vehicles have their place and purpose.

Glad you are OK. Sux tho about your box. Hopefully their insurance will make it right and you will be able to get another one real soon. Autotrader will be your friend in finding the replacement. Take care!

I think he's think 3500 dodge ram deisel dually, lifted perhaps, because a normal, even the fully loaded 3500 isn't that tall, hell the tundra is a taller truck then the ram, I own a ram d150, with a custom bumper, I've hauled 2k pounds in the bed, and towed a 25k(more or less) fully loaded pumper down the interstate with my dodge

You misunderstand; I don't mean there's no reason to own a large vehicle. I mean there's no reason to own a Dodge Ram 1500.

http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/dodge-ram-1500-review/
"When push comes to shove, the current Ram trails all its competitors in nearly every category." It's...kind of crap.

So there's that. And in addition to failing catastrophically on every level besides "machismo" there's the fact that the cutesy little rounded semi-truck front end is perfectly suited for peeling open the side of a passenger car.

If you want to tow really well, ride in comfort, enjoy decent-quality polymers, or have any sense of social responsiblity, there are infinitely better trucks. And for those people buying it for what I suspect is the MOST common reason...there are some very reasonable surgical enlargement options these days.
