Default Hello...intro time.

Alright here's a brief rundown of who I am...since I think it's rude to just start yapping and not introduce myself first. I'm a 42 year old tattoo artist/pinstriper/sign painter. No, I'm NOT here lookin for customers. I've dug the xb's since they were first introduced, and on Dec. 31 of '06, I finally got one. A salsa red, 5 spd standard xb. Big step in a weird direction for me...my daily drivers for the last 7 years have been American cars that were at least 35 years old, or older (63 Falcon wagon, 54 Chevy p.u., 66 Econoline van (the original box!), 60 Pontiac, 65 Fairlane wagon). Anyways...I dig odd-rods. I'm not big on the tuner "scene", but I do like the style, and potential style, of the xb. Basically, I'm here soaking up the valuable info ya'll have to offer. Lots of good tech here! I just have to learn all the abbreviations for parts and companies...it's a whole new world from my regular traditional rod and custom world. I'm prety much starting from scratch.

Anyways...thanks for all the info you've been putting out there! I'll post pics as I make a few upgrades on my xb.

Where are you from?

hahaha. On the traditional rod and custom board I've been on for the last several years...in the old days, if you starting posting without an intro, you'd be either beat down or run out. The train of thought was that you wouldn't just walk into someones garage and start throwing your .02¢ around without even letting the other people know who you are. That concept just kinda stuck with me.

Thanks for the "welcome".

Welcome to the board. I'm somewhat new also, and I dont believe I posted a formal introduction.

I'm interested in seeing some of your work. I love pinstriping and sign painting (hand done).

Barnett,

Welcome to the board. I'm and old striper and tattoo enthusiast/collector. Are you on any other boards like Pinhead Lounge? I'd love to see your work and maybe swap ideas. Maybe we can show these kids a thing or two when it comes to making the xB look kewl.

Hope to talk to you soon. Be careful, this board is very addictive.

Jake

I do have a Pinhead Lounge page...I think this is the link...http://www.pinheadlounge.com/Barnett. It has some of my older stuff. My MySpace has some of my more recent work and a couple of my past rides...http://www.myspace.com/barnettdbf

I definitely want to use my traditional rod and custom roots on the Scion...but without making it look like it's trying to be something it's not. Know what I mean? I won't be goin the wide whitewall, and dummy spots route, but I am going to be adding some semi-subtle striping to the hood and tailgate. I've also been thinking about a take-off on some late 60's style paint addition. We'll see. I need to have a friend of mine play around with photoshop for me. I'm no hurry on the paint job...the Slasa Red is a really sharp color!

I took off the rear emblems, the other day. I think the next step is to get it lowered a little. Are the factory option lowered coils good (quality/price)? I'm not lookin for a drastic drop since I like to pack a few people and lots of skateboard equipment in it. I'd also like to either get a stock grill in black orrrrrrr....a top grill in honeycomb to match the 2 lower ones.

hmmm...not sure why those links aren't hyper links. I'm on an iMac...maybe that's the problem? Sorry...I forgot to mention that I'm not very computer literate.

If you put a space before and after the link, it should work.

I am interested in lowering mine too. Not too much though, I had a full size pickup that I lowered 5&7 and it was a pain to drive.
