I wish Toyota made some of those credit card keeys like ford had back in the nineties. It came in the owners manual and you could have it cut then stash it in your wallet for emergencies.

There should be a metal tag with five key coding numbers stamped on it that came with the car - using it they can make a new key. Of course if you left it in the glovebox it doesn't do you much good.

He only got one key with the car. I'm sure that key code tag is LONG gone bye bye.

Did he get it open yet? All you an really do is either bust the window or call a locksmith. Punch yourself in the ***** and then move on with your life.

Here's another vote for just asking at the dealership. My father was able to get a replacement key for his Dodge Ram cut from the VIN just by calling the dealership and then showing up with ID. And, they didn't even charge him!

(I've always wondered why another company doesn't offer OnStar-type services for non-Chevy cars. In this situation, I'd love to be able to call someone and have them unlock my locks from afar!)

If you could over power the remote unlock receiver in the car and open it electronically that would be cool too. Just need to generate all the digital code sequences until the locks go click and grab the handle before the 30 second limit is reached and the doors lock again. Then there is something to be said for keypad entry systems too.

There's a video on YouTube that shows how to get in a locked car if it has power locks. They jammed a wood wedge into the back top edge of the door to make a gap then used a metal rod to reach in and press the unlock button.

Use this information for good law abiding purposes only.

This is why Scion gave everyone 2 keyfobs. How many different codes are there? Maybe another xBs fob would be the same code?

You can slimjim a 1st gen. xB in about 10 seconds. That's how the locksmith opened mine. As for prying the door open, good luck with that. I used the pried door/coat hanger technique on my 05 Nissan Frontier and it was no problem, but that's a cheap-___ Nissan for you.

Yeah I thing the door jam has too many bends in it to pry the door open and get a wire in. As far as the key codes . . . there are a lot of them. A slim jim will probably wreck the window seal - they seal up pretty tight..

Call a tow guy. I won't say how he did it, but I was back inside my Scion in about 45 seconds. It's embarrasingly easy to get into an XB if you've got the right tools.

the key fobs are programed to the car, anmost like a blur tooth link up.
i don't think anyother fob will work.

the wood wedge thing works VERY well, ive done it too meny times, not the the box, but plenty of other cars.

the dealer can get you another key with just your vin # and proof of ownership for around $8.
i lost my keys once.
yeah, when i talked to a car salesmen at the dealer he told me he could cut me a deal because he knew me and get me one for around $50, i LMAO too.
i then called the parts department and they did if for $8.
i didn't even have to come in i did it over the phone, it was the same dealer i got the car from new so they already had me in the computer.
