Who makes this car that does the driving? That would be like having a chauffeur.
Get real!
Well, they DO have that Lexus that parks itself...

But I'm talking about the creep that automatics do, and the way that they shift their own gears (you know, automatically.) I have nothing against folks that preffer their cars that way; it's just not for me.

My father has an Acura automatic with sequential shifting. I haven't played around with it much, but maybe I'd prefer that over a regular automatic. Of course, I'd imagine that with sequential shifting, aside from when you REALLY need the extra control, usually you'd just get lazy and let the car take care of everything.

Less Filling - Taste Great ! Auto- Stick !
It's not that bad! It CAN get out it's own way, accelleration is decent.
And yes I'm a full throttle junkie (ZX-9R, Alpina, RSR) , but the Toaster is quite adequate for my daily commuting and weekend running around......

One gal that I have not heard from in a while had an xB with an auto that was not taking off quickly and lost a lot of mileage too like in the mid to low 20's I think. My manual will pretty much spin the tires just hitting the gas in first on dry ground and on a fast takeoff from a light into a side street I end up playing with the throttle to get some traction and usually have to shift into second gear. Is everyone with an auto happy with first gear acceleration?

I enjoy a break from shifting when I get to drive the xB for enjoyment! I do keep grabing for the shifter and pushing the invisible clutch pedal tho.

I do love the take-off of the manuals and often wish I had one.... until I realize sometimes I drive 30K/year, basically have to office out of the car and sit in traffic constantly... then I don't miss clutch cramp so much.

clutch cramp in an xB? the clutch is lighter than the gas pedal!

does your right leg cramp from on/off throttle/brake in traffic too?

After 2 hours or so, yes, there is a little cramping. At 6 hours, it really sucks. It's not like the traffic jam at the 3 way in the trailer park I'm sure you're used to. If that were the case, I think I could handle it.

And my middle finger still works fine, but thank you for your concern anyway.

None of you have to tell me I'm a nutcracker because I eat ****** like you to satisfy my sadistic side.

Went on a trip to PA one time last year and when I got near the Tappanzee there was a backup that was going to last almost 3 hours - I just drove 3 hours to get there and had another 3 hours to go and didn't think a 9 hour trip was something I wanted to take so I just turned around and headed back home but I did manage to stop at a friends in Stamford for a few hours. Still ended up being a 340 mile trip for nothing. Sometimes the clutch gets tiring if you can't creep in first at 2mph or when it's up hill stop and go. Still if I had to drive in that stuff every day I would move or find another job or both.
