Default I need a rear compartment liner

I purchased 2 scion xb's for floral delivery vans. I have removed the rear seat but the floor isn't level. I need something like a pickup truck bedliner with approx 2" lip to hold any spills that might occur. I have talked to the Rhino bedliner company and a fiberglass boatbuilder to perhaps construct a drop-in liner but to no avail. I contacted scion and they referred me to this sight for "the folks in the know." I'm sure I'm not the first to have thought of them as delivery vehicles, so has anyone had this done or does anyone have any good ideas. I'd prefer that it be a professional job although I could have it made out of plywood. The welded brackets for the seatbelts have to be taken into consideration too.

Is there anyone out there who could help out an old tired florist :?:

Thanks, Flowergirl

The only thing that comes to mind is a water proof mat that they sell for the entire rear cargo area. They call it a cargo liner, holds itself in place with velcro, and is supposed to be spill proof. I dont think it has the lip your looking for though. Im going to be purchasing one in the very near future for my RS1 so i dont wreck the back while using the car for work.

This link can lead you to the liner ....

This is the cheapest i have seen it for too.

Default Thank you

Thanks, I think his idea is great but I've removed the seats and want to be able to use the sunken area behind the seats too. I'm sure it has to be fabricated but don't know who to try next. I did ask the seller if he could also make some suggestions. My original idea sprang from the container that holds the spare tire and accessory ben but I don't know who the manufacturer is.
I appreciate your quick response. Flowergirl

probably your best bet is your idea of plywood

get someone to cut and build it for you and paint it with a sealer

just an idea

Are you talking about the foam inserts for the spare and trunk floor space? I bet that foam isn't too expensive just one of pretty high density. In Los Angeles there is a place called Diamond Foam and Fabric (maybe just Diamond Foam) the number is 323/931-3626 for their foam department. Another idea might be corrugated plastic. Just like cardboard! The only place in L.A. if I remember right is in City of Industry but that is going back a few years for me...

Some 2x4 framing ontop of a solid sheet of plywood and then get a think rubber liner that is leak proof and it will work ...... Any decent handyman should be able to make you one for a low cost, liner is fair in price ....

I would remove everything including the spare. Make a tub from plywood, seal the corners with silicone and then Thompson water seal it.

It should be pretty level with the seats and spare out. Any DIY or custom stereo shop should be able to fabricate the tub.

Any spray liner will too expensive for something that really doesnt need it.

I remember delievering flowers with a plywood drop-in-tub with 6 holes in it.

Where are you located?

There has to be something lighter then plywood. If you find it, then i would use like a can of spray in liner or under coating you can get at PepBoys and coat the base with that. Hmmmmmm what is lighter then plywood ......

Birch plywood...

You must be thinking of particle board, because plywood is only about 50 lbs for a 4x8 sheet of 1/2". Its hard to beat the strength and weight for the money.

Steel...Hard to work with and heavy
Fiberglass...Expensive, and needs to be custom made
Rubber...Good luck getting a mold to fit perfect with the contours of the xB, but light.
Plywood...cheap, easy to deal with, and light.

I guess you can us velcro...LOL...J/K

i truthfully think that the best thing to do is go to a car stereo place and get them to make a box like that for you....they can make it mold to every corner easily but it might be pricey.......

Default Thanks Guys

Thank you for all your responses. I had been given the hint about custom stereo companies by one of my local guys. But I'll let you know when it gets accomplished and how it gets done. In a town that fitted Shaq's wagon, I should be able to get it done. What I've been calling a bedliner has been reclassified as a TUB. Maybe in my search that will get my point across better! Keep those cards & letter coming. I'm really impressed. As soon as I get pictures of my "little buggers" I'll post them.
Thanks again, Flowergirl
