Default I paid for a 2006.5 Scion xB but got a 2006 - what can I do?

I picked up my Polar White xB last night after losing 2 Blue Onyx Pearl models due to dealer mixups and mistakes. At first I was happy since PW was my first choice in color. But once, I got to the dealership and look the car over, I noticed the steering wheel was missing the audio controls. I pointed this out my salesman and he checks the manufacture date which ends up being Nov, 2005. So the car is actually a 2006 and not a 2006.5 (which I paid for). He asks me if this is a problem and I said not really, but the 2006.5 was $150 more and had that extra feature which was a selling point to me. Both he and another salesman (who did the financing paperwork and found the car for me) both said there is nothing they could do about the price or throwing free mats or something and suggested I take it up with Scion to see if they'll do anything for me.

So what(if anything) will Scion do for me? I really like the car and the dealership has been great, but $150 is $150. Am I SOL?

What other features is my car missing?

Another problem I immediately had was with the iPod upgraded HU. I connect my 3rd Gen 10 Gig iPod to the cable they provided and the HU give me a "Comm Error". I reset the iPod according to the Pioneer manual and that doesn't work. This was tested before leaving the dealership and I made arrangements to have a tech look at it tonight,

Aside from that, I love the car and Culligan Scion has been great to me in the buying process.

I havent owned a brand new car in over 15 years and I feel like an 18 year old kid again with my new ride.

you took delivery? IMO you should have left it on the lot.

Personally, I would not have accepted delivery. IMO, you're being ripped off. The book value of a 2006.5 will be higher in the used market, plus the fact that the dealer paid Scion for a 2006, and is keeping your $150 as additional profit.

In addition to the audio controls, I believe the air bags are upgraded in the 2006.5.

I think you should be a lot mor ____ed off than you seem to be.

personally the way i look at things is you asked for something the right way and they are charging you for it the right way but their giving it to you the wrong way , i would have refused the vehicle and contacted a different dealership.

if any do contact Scion and tell them your problem , do not defend the dealership (thats their job) and if any thing just ask for your 150.00

Contact the dealer raise hell, if that dont work get in touch with Scion Corp. IMO your final step get a lawyer, I would have left it on the lot and waited for yours.

I knew I should have made a bigger stink about it. Now I have to fight with the dealership and I have less of a chance of actually getting anywhere.

I was pretty excited about getting the car and didn't really want to walk away from it. Now I'm ____ed.

Dealer paid $150 less for it, I guess I can use that to get something out of them.

Is it possible to get the steering wheel upgraded?

Anything is possible, but it will cost a lot more than $150.

Car lust always costs money.

The salesman did the right thing, in his view. He made the sale, got the extra money, and got rid of an older car that would have been a problem to sell if it had been around much longer. Now that you've taken delivery, don't expect to get anything out of the dealer.

Usually the dealers are worried about the survey that Toyota will send you. I would let the dealer kow it will not be favorable. I believe the dealers get some incentive money for good surveys.

The feedback from the survey affects their allocation of how many cars they receive each month, which in turn can really put the squeeze on their bottom line when they don't have anything to sell.

I can't find any reference to the cooling off on a car. I think maybe it's just for door to door sales and I was confused.

I can't find anything either, but I remember hearing/reading about something like this that Eliot Spitzer recently passed.

I have no regrets on my purchase other than I paid the price of a 2006.5 and got a 2006 without the steering wheel audio controls.

The lack of audio controls is not a big deal to me, the extra money I spent for something I didn't get is a big deal.

I really have no intentions of returning this car - I absolutely love it and it's exactly what I wanted: a brand new 5-speed, polar white Scion xB.

I feel the car should have be $150 cheaper. If the salesman wants to make good, keep me a happy customer and give me a check for $150, I'll be happy. If not, I'll work my way up the food chain starting with the dealership manager. If that doesn't work, I'll contact Scion, the BBB.
