intake voids warranty?

To put it bluntly... Whoever told you that an intake will void your warranty is full of crap.
In order to void any warranty claim, a modification must be proven in writing by the manufacturer or their representative (dealership) to have caused the failure leading to the claim.
DO NOT be scared off by claims of voided warranties. Get the parts you want from manufacturers you trust. And when you have a chance, look up the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act of 1975.
Oh, and by-pass valves don't make a difference one way or another as far as warranties are concerned. They are designed to help keep water out of your engine in the case that it gets through your filter and into your intake.
Hope that helps.

only thing that I think has the possibility to mess up your warranty is a different header because it is removing one of the cats. Other then that the intake and exhaust is not going to void anything because if installed right its not gonna be the cause of something on your car to fail.

SuperToaster:
Read this, and print out the relevant stuff for your future reference. Feel free to show it to your dealer too, to remind them of the laws protecting consumers in this country, just in case they forgot.

The whole Magnusson-Moss act is detailed here:

So tell your dealer

My line when a customer asks me that question:
"If an aftermarket part causes some kind of fault with your car, can your really expect the manufacturer to have to pay for that? Now, the Service Department is actually on your side. They want to do the work. They get PAID by Toyota/Scion for doing that work. Therefore, if they can pass something by Toyota/Scion and get paid for it, they will."
That's it for me.
