I just keep adding oil to my 2006 XB and I just don't know where it is going? (please note sarcasm)



Anyone think this might be a warranty issue on my 55000 mile old engine? Anyone else encounter a gaping hole and a crack going up the side of their block.

How long is your warranty???

Definitely NOT normal!!!

Looks like somebody took an air impact to the oil filter, when tightening it!!
(Or an hammer to an old 'stuck' filter, to 'jar' the threads loose.)

as far as your motor goes, WOW. um, where do you get your oil changed? That should be covered under the 5 year 60K warranty, but I dunno. I would say if Toyota dont cover it, go to where you get your oil changed and raise hell with them, thats what they have insurance for.

You have a visible crack in your engine block? I would definitely be checking the warranty information! I have an 06 as well, it does not leak or consume any noticeable amount of oil.

I was thinking epoxy and duct tape..nobody will notice

 

Jb weld for aluminum. I was a mechanic for Toyota for 6 years and never saw anything like that. I would certainly take it to the dealer and make them replace it.

Another good reason to change the oil at 15K to 25K mile intervals. You are up to 5 times less likely to make a critical, engine ending error.
