kayak tie downs? Where?
I have the rack for my xA. I got it because I Geocache, and wanted to be able to bring whatever I need like a bike, or kayak when I head out.
Here is my problem, when you mount a kayak on the roof it should be tied down on both ends, not just in the middle. This is fine if I take one kayak I just use the tow loop up front, and the "Sea" hook in the rear and I am all set. Problem is what do you do if you want to take two kayaks? There is only one tow loop hole on the front of the car, and it is on the drivers side. I don't have the kayak "J" hooks, and untill I can solve this problem I don't think I am going to get them as it will be a waste if I can't properly lash down the kayaks in them.
Does anyone have a solution for this problem? Thanks for any help you can give.

I am still waiting on my car, so I don't know if this will work. Im sure you have tried it, but can you tie both yaks to the same tow loop?? I know it is off center, I have already searched this out because I haul Kayaks almost all the time. I was figuring on tying them together and running a triangle shape to the tow fitting. It seems to me that J hooks would solve the problem because it would hold the kayak centered while the bow and stern are tied off kilter. I have seen people tie the bow and stern back to the roof rack. Seems to work for some people, I have not ever tired that method on any car. One thing I wasn't sure of though, how well do two kayaks fit on the roof of the xA? thanks
I'm not trallw comfortable with the tieing back to the rack thing, and as far as doing 2 yacks to the tow pin the problem with that is that you end up with a secure kayak on the passengers side, but the one on the drivers side is held outbord of the "j" hook so it will want to come off the side of the car.
I'm really disgusted with Scion about this at this point, I know I bought it mostly as a commuiter but they should have put in a little thought before slaping on a roof rack for Gen X and Y appeal.
