Mine gets 87 now all the time. Averages 31/32 with the 18" TRDs and 34/35 with the steelies. I have tried the other grades but with zero difference in performance or mpgs.

draxcaliber

your first video talkes alot about air/fuel ration and unlocking the power of the gas.
this is where my mix comes it to play.
acetone evaperates very quickly this help atomize the fuel.
it also lowers the temp of the fuel making the combustion chamber colder.

ive only use small amount because im only looking to run a little better.

ive seen some guys (not on a scion) run as much as 20% but thats as high as you can go with out doing some big time mods.

Try only 3 oz of Acetone instead of 4 and see what happens to your mileage.

What's interesting is that the MPG people say that the XB only gets 26 city and 31 highway

http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/calcu...umn=1&id=22127

However most everyone here says they get more. So does the second Gen Xb get better mileage than then they claim?

^^How much does it cost you for the acetone? And what is your mixture again? Looking to try it and see how much smoother the box runs....

Boy these octane threads are amazing.

It's very simple: Use the "lowest" octane rating that "your" car will operate on "without" pre-ignition or detonation, PERIOD! Anything of a higher octane than required is simply a waste.

If you think your stock Scion is getting a "burst" of extra acceleration when you run premium fuel it is simply your imagination.

There is more than enough information available on the internet on the subject and I would suggest that some folks do google searches and read up.

With that said, I pay attention to my driving and I always attempt to maximize my mileage. I am currently averaging 37 mpg the last few months since I have modified my driving habits. 90% of my driving is in the city. I use regular unleaded fuel from 1 particular BP station here in town. It is a VERY busy station which means that the fuel is always fresh. I use no snake oil, acetone, octane boost, marvel mystery oil, dinosaur juice, or aloe vera mixed into my fuel. My car does NOT knock or ping and it runs very smoothly.

Interestingly enough, I have been able to attain higher fuel mileage ratings in the city now than on the highway. I believe the main reason is that the city where I live is pretty flat and there is not a lot of traffic, whereas the Interstates in our area are very hilly and those hills kill my mileage.

My scangauge has been a great tool in helping my to acheive my higher mileage ratings too.

The octane discussion was not specifically geared towards the xB... More of a general discussion (I think it more applied to sports cars in general ie; the whole learning curve of the euc) And you are correct there is alot of data to be found on the internet. I think the discussion got off track a bit.. more on my part. But some owners would not know knock if it presented itself. Its not something that you would find very much in the xB unless you really got a bad tank of gas.

Hummm sounds like I need to increase mine an ounce and see what happens. I also tried the Lucus additive and it didn't seem to help but I am already using Torco GP7.

i use: 4oz of 100% pure acetone
3oz of Lucas upper cylinder lubricant

ive never tried it without the lucas.
i buy the acetone by the gallon for like $12 i think.
you can get it at walmart.

what i have realy noticed is everyones car acts differently

i would say start with 2oz and then 2 1/2oz then 3 then 3 1/2 and see what happens. just find the sweet spot for your car. i went as high as 7oz.
i realy think 4oz works the best for me.

Good data! Gona try it out myself... I need to get a scan gauge or wide band 02 sensor eventually to see the a/f ratios while using this stuff. I think it would be very helpful!

Scan Gauge won't furnish you with A/F ratio information, just FYI.
