Default Not Planning to Modify my xB.

I am a recent new owner of a 2005 Black Cherry Pearl xB.

I have no plans to modify it.

From watching this site, I feel like I am in the minority.

I bought the xB because it is just about perfect for my needs as it is. Some things would have been nice like maybe alloy wheels or a sunroof... but if those added 3k to the price I may have gone with something else.

The xB handles great for what it is -MUCH better than I expected it to.

The engine is very well-matched to a vehicle of the xB's weight. The power band seems broad and downshifting in traffic is more optional than mandatory. Definitely a more usable engine than the 1.6 in my Civic.

The interior space - Amazing. Really. This is the roomiest back seat my bottom has ever dropped in.

My only complaints are the silly wheel covers, and I can't see the cup holders.. and the tail lihgts. Of course, the cup holder thing can be fixed with $10 in LEDs. The wheel cover thing may be fixed the next time I need to buy tires. The tails... haven't decided yet.

In any case, I've had several cars through the years and think I've finally found one that makes sense for me just as I bought it.

The standard equipment - perfect! Everything I want without forcing me to buy an option bundle of stuff I don't want or need.

Stock stereo - Great. Mp3 Player cost me a few hundred to add to my other car - standard here.

Tinted windows - another added bonus. Obviously I'd be doing this anyway, but if I did it myelf it would cost me $50/window around here.

Power - there's not much you can do to the Box that will pay off. I've heard a few with exhausts, and they don't sound good... yet still aren't fast. Blitz supercharger bumps you to 150? What a waste (IMHO, of course). If I superchage a car that has an engine that may blow because of it, I should be able to run 12 or better in the 1/4.

I bought the box to do what it des well. I have been completely satisfied, and hope that other car makers take a cue from Toyoya / Scion.

Not planning to do much with mine either.

I bought a leftover 2004 demo model from the local dealer and it came with a bunch of Scion extras, but nothing I would have paid for on a brand new car. My XB fits me just right

you're right, you are in the minority when it comes not customizing the xb. it is the new fresh thing out on the market right now, and it's hard not to mess with it. i had plans to not modify mine, but that plan went to crap about 4days after i bought it thanks to a wind storm and my insurance company. now it's fully modded at this point(until i do the interior) but, i'm glad you like it the way it is because it is a great car untouched. check my profile and you'll see what i mean.

They're not "tinted". They're colored. "Privacy glass". Enormous difference. Privacy glass is just that - it's perfect if semi-privacy is the ONLY concern. It blocks no heat, no UV radiation, no glass breakage protection, no real privacy, etc. $50 a glass is a bit steep.

hahahahaha, noooooob!

When Nilo (xbboy) bought his xB, he said "I'm just gonna get a nice set of rims, and maybe lower it... but that's it, nothing else, i don't think i want to get all crazy"

look what's happened since:

Nilo's been through 3 body kits, a million sets of rims, grills, emblems, custom carbon fiber accesories, helped found Scion Evolution and shows no signs of slowing down!!

your xB is like a can of pringles, once you mod, you can't stop! you say you're not going to do much, but just wait -------> you will!

35% is the limit in MA. I'm betting the stock 'coloring' on the rear windows is close to that. I'm also betting that if they block visible light, they block UV (although I'm not going to pay for the equipment to test that). $50 is the going rate here... unless it's gone up since the last time I had some tint done.

I'm not a heretic. I finally had a car company offer me almost exactly what I need / want in a single package.

I'm not opposed to modifying cars by any means. If my 240SX came with the motor it should have, I would not have swapped in the SR20 - and would probably been happy with it in its stock (or close to stock) configuration.

you can get some nice wheels w/o speding 3K
especially if you go w/ 17"

as far as the tails
i believe there is someone working on or has some LED tails for the XB and it looks nice

I really think it's going to stay close to stock. The xb is going to be my wife's primary car once I teach her to drive it.

I would love to keep it, but it was part of a deal. I got the turbo motor for the Nissan and she got the next new car.

I am starting to think about mods... Subwoofer for under the seat... wheels... lights for the cupholders...

Oh, man... I'm doomed.

Congrats on your new box!

the stock coloring is 20% (yes, I have the equipement to test that.)

visible light and ultraviolet radiation are two entirely different beasts. Uncoated glass does not filter UV-B (damaging UV), no matter how dark it is - as is the case with factory tint.

I'm nowhere remotely close to you (so, have nothing to gain). If you want to save the interior in the long run, the rear glass needs to be coated. Just becuase you get tint, doesn't mean you have to buy 5% limo. They do make the stuff all the way up to clear (aka "UV SHIELD") which doesn't darken the glass.

From your user name, I'm inclined to believe you.

I think a replacement interior would be cheaper than tinting the windows... if I still have the car that long.

$50 is what it costs around here per window... so I'd be looking at $350, assuming the tinter cuts me a break on the spare window on the rear doors.

I'd have to assume that in 5 years, I would be able to replace / recover the interior cloth parts for that - and avoid the attention of the authorities in the mean time.

I threw on some 17's and probably going to purchase the rear spacers. Tint the front windows and front banner and I will be done.

Hey, that's great. More power to you.

Now, to get that more power to you, you'll need a AEM CAI, then a BORLA exhaust...
