My wife and I are the same age as you two.

BTW, did you finish installing the roof rack? How did the installation go? Any tips?

Did it stop raining enough for you to take pics? Thanks. :D RPM

I finished the roof rack. It was very simple, took about 30 mins. If I can figure out how to post pics I'll put them up. The one tip I'll give you is be very gentle with the sheet metal screws. The roof is very thin and soft. Use a hand screw driver not a screw gun and just snug them up carefully. I had two strip out and had to go up one size screw. Also, I put a blob of clear silicon in each hole to prevent the hole edges from rusting. The screws are waxed so this is just an extra precaution.

It's a state of mind only. Wife and I are both 46 and love our box.

I'm 52.

Driving an xB is a bigger sign of nonconformity for us old farts than it is for the young punks. At our age we're supposed to be driving luxury cars, showing how successful we are. My xB is a big fat middle finger in the direction of my Benz/Beemer/Jag/Caddy/Lexus driving peers.

I wonder what the snooty "old people" think or do when they see cool "old people" in xBs?

I'm 53 and drive a xB. not because that was all I could afford but because I really like this car. I was going to bulid an old VW but decided to get this instead. I don't need my mommy to buy toys for me, although I know she would if I ask her. Oh BTW I have a mother in-law that is pushing 85 that will be buying a 05 Tc as soon as it comes in.

I'm 50. I got the box because I wanted to. I don't care what anybody else thinks.

Default Another "old man" xB owner!

]I'm 59 and have a 05 TCM. I traded in a PT Cruiser for the box. I love everything about the xB. I've had it since June. Just had a sunroof installed by Airstream. I have added lots of things to it so far. Plan on doing lots more. I've owned many cars in my life. I've always been a car nut. This car is so much fun to drive. Will submit photos soon.

I make the same connection between the xB and the VW. I had one bug for 21 years

and three buses. As soon as I drove the xB for the first time at the dealer I was sold.

It's good, basic transportation that's fun to drive, looks a little weird and has

seemingly unlimited potential for all kinds of modifications. Sounds an awfull lot like

a VW.

Nothing's wrong with Beemers or any of the others I mentioned. They're all excellent cars, It's just that they're kind of a uniform for unimaginative people.

I see BMW as this. It was for the classey & now seems to be for those with no class. I could get a BMW if I wanted to, it might not be new but hey its a BMW right? Most drivers of BMW that I see are young guys or gals who just got the car because its a BMW, its the best car out there you know. All the wrong reason.
