Old Boxers Speak Up
40 here and my Black Box is on the way. Not too old I guess, but not exactly Scion's target audience.
I work at a CPA firm in Ohio and it should really shake up the office when I drive it to work. Most of our lot is filled with Acuras, Toyotas, a few BMWs and miscellaneous dull cars. I am looking forward to it.

43 this year and feel 25........ was driving Toyota MR2, Honda CRX then Vtec, BMW320i, VW Vento, then the last ride was a Mitsubishi Airtrek (Outlander) and now a black sand pearl bB.
This bB turns heads every I go, yesterday afternoon was washing the car and my neighbours started asking me questions about what's this etc etc.....

My buddies 330i went through 3 rotors because there is no signs of the brakes going bad. Not to mention the countless times it has been in there for stupid false sensors..
Anyways...

Almost 40 here, and thus I guess young. I bought the xB for a bunch of reasons, but I think up near the top of the reasons is it's like a Bug. Or what a Bug was back in the day. Not a car everyone dug. And it's easy to mod.
I am 45 and I believe age does not matter, unless you are a cheese. I am a VW Bus Fan. Drive a 67 21 window and a 1970 double cab. The XB gives me the same vibe as the Bus. Even got the hula girl on the dash of my xb, life is good......
Next year, I am driving the xB to BurningMan. I stay at the VW bus Camp......Life is good, got the xb, unlimited supply of viagra, and the Beatles White album is blasting on the CD player....wooowa

I saw a grandma about 60 driving an TCM XB in chicago. She was sporting some 18's TRD and a roof rack. I was like
. we greeted each other in Lasalle St. in Chicago.
I'm 49.
Love the xB for its interior room, great running engine and trans, fuel economy and styling (love the box). Color: BSP
Also I am slowing adding extras. One day I'll post pictures.
Have interior lighting (blue), canvas cargo mat, Scionfloor mats, wind deflectors (all doors), and Altezza black tailights.
All of the above bought and installed after-market.
I'm adding custom body graphics and fog lights soon.

Saw a purple? xB driven by an older couple at the COSTCO gas station – had nice wheels & low profile tires. Walked over & asked them how they liked their Scion & that I liked their car. The guy said they got the wheels from the dealer; seemed really happy with their purchase.
I’m 52 & almost got an xB or tC – decision was made when the wife offered to kick in $10K if we got a IS300 Sportcross. Still wish I could fill up with regular & get the gas mileage of a Scion (the IS gets about 18 mpg on premium).

Whoa, Now yungsta..
Having owned both a 318ti (cali edition) and a 318Ic (vert) I have exactly 2 cents to put into this matter.
NOTHING, I mean NOTHING beats the joy of driving a BMW. PERIOD.
I love my LAVA and it's both PIMP and PRACTICAL >> That puts it in the top 3 vehicles in my life.
I have a terribly fast 3000GT, that I'm thuroughly ricing out (long story) but the official WAZZUP7 badge of honor went to the Xb -- 'cause it's SOO PIMP!
I've had this plate for about 10 years, and I only let my fave rides carry it. but if it came down to it, like if I could only have one ride. Screw everyone else, I'd keep my convertible BIMMER.. it's not as practical, but just as reliable (4cyl) just as good on gas, and is the BEST drug for eliminating all forms of stress. You gotta LIKE driving, number one, and you GOTTA drive the BMW to appreciate it.
Just bein' honest...

MB E55. . . 0-160mph in 20 seconds flat, in car that seats 5 and has built in massagers, the works
McLaren. . .
Ferrari 360, 355, F50, Enzo(ugly)
Formula 1
Porsche 911 GT2, GT3(driven it), 911 turbo
Porche GT
Lotus Elise/Exige
Mazda Miata(comes damn close, not fast, but VERY fun)
Acura NSX(driven it)
57 Vette
Dodge Viper
All around tho, and for the price, BMW is a good buy as a "driver's car." They are exactly what they advertise themselves to be. . . but they aren't exactly the best, IMO. We have a 528, an M3, and used to have a 740(traded for LS430) in the family. . .
Funny you mentioned that, as I am currently on the lookout for an early 90s NSX for my next project..
All the cars you mentioned (with the exception of the Mazda) are exotics.
Of course they will be better. Please excuse the assumption that people woudn't go there...
But even in your list -- I cant FIT in a Miata -- neither can 56% of the US adult population
The Viper SUCKS to drive.. Ask any owner.. Like the comaros and Mustangs and (God help me) Vetts before them, They are ONLY good for straight line performance. If you live your life "A quarter mile at a time" then the afore mentioned rides are for you. They finally fixed all the handling issues last year in their latest RT, but have you seen it..
It's a Honda s2000 on steroids -- week! they took all the sexy lines away.
I'd rather rather drive a sucky old RT and go in a straight line real fast ( or just parked) then look like a dork in new one choopin' up the road ( aww, I take that back; the new one IS genious)-- At least I'd get CHICKS! Hell, Urkel could get chicks in that car !
I just had the opportunity to check out ALL of your rides FIRST hand at the Petit LeMans last weekend. Panoz gave me an ALL ACCESS pass, and access to their curtesy booth. My ears are still ringing, but seeing the crews do their work in the pits was AMAZING
It was truly a life changing event.
You are right about all those cars. Even the VIPER, 'cause if you got the money to buy them, you got the money to make em handle right...
I sit corrected.
