Man those all look good and it makes me want to paint mine even more now! So sanding is the way to start? That wont mess up the piece since its plastic?

If you use Krylon for plastics you don't need to sand.

paint and body guy. look if you are going to do it just do it right the first time and it will last longer and look shine and good so its up to you man. i just dont like the idea of spray cans. But hey its your car and you do what ever you want to do to it. i just gave my 2 cents about the idea peace out bbscionxb

It depends... if you have a show car that will have the engine bay visible, you might want to front some extra money to have it professionally sprayed.

Rattle cans are fine for me, because, not too many people look at my engine bay, I just wanted something different under there.

Also, I dislike Krylon Fusion. My roommate tried painting his tC cover with Fusion and it would peel off. I use the stuff from Home Depot; I forget the name off hand but it's bullet proof. I've sprayed my wheelcovers, rearview mirror, and even some xbox 360 controllers with it and they're holding up exceptionally well.

Do you think it will do well with the textured stuff like the pillars?

The paint holds up exceptionally well... I have my wheel covers painted and they made it through a Chicago winter, so I'm pretty confident in its staying power.

Do we REALLY need high-temp paint? I was paying very close attention all winter, and my engine never actually got hot enough to melt the snow off the hood.

By comparison, my old Blazer got so hot it routinely melted the snow off other cars. So I'm guessing there's a bit of a difference here.

You don't need high temp paint for the engine cover. It couldn't hurt, but you'll have more options with regular paint.
