it's like 30 bucks or so for it!
My god..... I'm going to make sure I super glue mine on. That is insane for a 2 inch pc of plastic.

I am missing the same piece. If you get it from the SCION dealership it is part# 5213352051. The dealer qouted me $28.84.

Sounds like this is a defect on these cars. Are you able to use the billet grills with this piece missing?

Thanks

chunter

Default Lost Piece

I lost mine a few weeks ago when I hit a cardboard box on the highway.

$42.00 at the dealer - and they were kind enough to install for free since they were doing a lot of other warranty work. Ouch!!!!!!

$42 included the installation fee. They just didn't tell you so you'd think you got a good deal. It's a snap in part that takes 1 sec... oooop it's done already.

I accidently pulled up too close to a curb the other day and when I got out to check for damage, I luckily saw the plastic piece layin on the curb and put it back real quick.

It surely doesn't sit in there tight. I thought it might have been because I scraped the bottom of my front bumper and did something to it but apearently not, it just sits like that.

But it's been a while since I last looked to see if they were still on there... going to go out check both xBs right now....WHOA! The one that had fallen off was just barely on. THANKS to everybody on this thread, reminding me to check that piece.

Why is it that the passenger one falls off but the towing access one on the driver side does not. Furthermore, I am going to be on the look out for them when I am bumper to bumper here in LA...........

The first time mine came off was when I was washing my car. I sprayed it and it came off. So I stuck it back on and it stayed. At least until it fell off, and I still don't know when that was.

And I was just about to paint the silver bar in front of the radiator, too! Should I paint the area that was covered by the grille, while I have the paint out?

yep seriously, I thought mine went missing when they towed my car. The driver's side one was put in all backwards and everything. But now I'm thinking it just fell off... or maybe another xB owner jacked it after he lost his (*eyes the SL crowd suspiciously*). Anyhow no biggie... I plan to fill the space with some fogs anyhow.

For everyone that is missing this piece... Mine was covered under warranty. The new one has a tether on it incase it falls out you won't loose it. Just tell the dealer it fell out and have them order a replacement under warranty. problem solved and good luck!!! Don't take NO for an answer!!!! They may try to tell you it's your fault but it wasn't. The new one fits in the hole tighter also, so they knew about it and improved it.

Great, jethro! Thanks for sharing this! I think I'll take a trip to the dealer tomorrow. (Would it matter if there's bumper damage [deep scratches] near the hole?)

I would say not really, because if it had the tether on it you would not have lost it. It would have just popped out and hung there waiting to be popped back in. Good luck and let us know how it goes please.
