Default Really wanting xb

I am seriously considering an xb. I want a cool ride, practical, economical with some serious personality. I think this is the ride for me. However, I have a part time lawn business, so I was concernced with towing ability. I will be towing a trailer, about a 5x8 with a tailgate ramp. My mowers, rider and push, with weedtrimmers and blowers, extra fuel, etc should weigh about 600lbs plus the weight of the trailer. I also will probably use it for my sons cub scout camping trips. After reading the posts here, its sounds like it wouldnt be a problem.
Right now i drive an 02 Ford F250, reg cab, gas burner, with a Leer utility shell and everything rides in my shell, all locked up and safe. But its a big ugly, white plain work truck, I get happy if I get 13 mpg, and I want something more fun to drive and look at, so I think an xb will be my choice.
Any comments or concerns carrying this much weight, I am not sure how much ya'll bikes weigh, I do live in the very hot and humid south(Mississippi), but I wont be going but about 5 to 10 miles a day when towing my mowing equipment.
I would appreciate any suggestions or warnings.

Shouldn't be a problem. I have a friend that tows 2 dirt bikes and has the car loaded down with people and stuff. An auto will have more difficulty though.

If I do this, I only want the manual anyway. With only 103hp, I want to be able to utilize all the power I can.
Also, how does the factory accessory(cant remember what they call it) aftermarket type exhaust sound like?
Is it kinda throaty, or just buzzy?

1. TRD Sport Exhuast: I have it on my tC. It's a nice low rumble. Not worth the $500 the dealership charges you. I would look into the Strup Exhaust V.2. Sounds just like the TRD, has a wider tip, and cheaper!
2. I'm ordering my xB tomorrow. Just not feel'in my tC.

The xB is a "tow at risk" vehicle. The manual specifically recommends against towing.

Is it capable of towing relatively small loads? Sure, keep the tongue weight down to less than 150-200# and the overall weight well less than 900-1000# including passengers. Empty the car is gutless, loaded down to 1000# going up and down hills might be downright scary. It will most certainly be slow.

Should you tow with it? That's really up to you in the end. Some have successfully done so and you can read about them. I have chosen to stay on the nay side of this one for now. That subject has been debated here a few times. Here's one of the more interesting debates:

I'm actually doing that tomorrow. A dealer near me has a Shadow Mica xB on the lot right now, so my 05 IIP tC is going in on trade.

Can't go wrong with the xB! I used to have a Tacoma and sold it right before we moved over to Hawaii (army will only ship one vehicle and the wifes Murano was brand new) I really miss my truck (had it forever) but I really LOVE my Box the car just rocks and I just can't see myself getting rid of it...

I really like the TRD sport exhaust, it sounds really great. Not too "over the Top" as a lot of the exhausts out there do..gives it a meaner sound.... but I wouldn't get it from the dealer try ebay first...much cheaper if you can get a ebay toyoyta/scion dealer...to simple to put on yourself...

as far as towing...check out his guys set up and pm him, he'd be able to tell you more about what it can do since he has actually done it:

https://www.scionlife.com/profile/rallying_the_scion

some quotes from him about it:

"Heres pics of the trailor I built for the xB, and it pulls like its not back there. Love it. here she is"

"you can go to www.etrailer.com for the hitch. The traior its self is a kit from harbor freight, its all there, the wireing, tires, lights for it all. The boxs are aluminum boxs for the bed of a truck. If you want more info, shoot, ill tell you what i know, built the trailor in my garage. fully loaded, about 800 lbs on the car, i get 31MPG believe it or not, i run at 68MPH, 2800RPMs."
