Removal of airbox snorkle-BIG MPG! UPDATE 4.0!
450mpg...sounds like it works. I will definetly be doing this, i currently testing the engine braking vs. neutral coast. It looks as though the neutral coast is winning. I will let you guys know as soon as i am done.

put a cup of water on your cup holder and maybe fill it up to 1" from the top. Now drive everyday without spilling. I bet cha your mpg will increase!!!! Trust me, if there is a way to improve the mpg, the car factory would have thought about it. Havent you guys seen myth buster?

Just gassed up today 438 miles on 10.772 gallons first shutoff click was 10.1 gallons but I keep going slowly to get almost another gallon in. The low gas light came on at 10.0 gallons used according to he ScanGauge and at fillup it said I had used 10.7 gallons which pretty much matched what it too to fill it.

But after reading some forums turns out some cars do have DFCO. Ours is one of them! So technically in gear off gas is using less fuel than ideling in neutral. But it depends on the situation whether or not you should do it. If you need to hold your momentum as far as possible while coasting nuetral is best. But if you have a stop coming up at the bottom of a hill or need to control your speed anyway then in gear off gas is more effiecient . Here's a discussion thread on the yaris forum.

400 miles per tank would be easy if you could maintain 45 mph on level ground for 400 mile non stop. Where ya gonna find a road like that and have that much time to spend going 400 miles? LOL

But its also a matter of using a light foot and taking off easy, and coasting whenever possible.
This last tank I just drove "normally" and got 396 miles at about 37.6 mpg. Obviously, my "gas-miser" habits must still kick in even when Im not really trying to go for high mileage!
The bottom line is - it aint rocket science; anybody can do it - it just takes some discipline and the commitment to keep at it.
(And I will be the first to admit that after all these gas saving runs, I was dying to stand on the gas pedal a bit!
car manufacturers should make a button to limit acceleration of a car to get the best mpg so you can just step on the gas. Then you can turn it off. (kinda like sport mode and economy mode on BMW but make the economy's acceleration really really slow lol).

I'm getting 400+ miles to a tank commuting to and from Los Angeles in rush hour traffic, both directions! That means intense traffic jams, sitting still for minutes at a time, constant stop-and-go, - the whole ball of gas-burning wax!
