Take the rest of the tank off, you deserve it!

I'm giving it a go, but with being back to my shorter commute now it will be tough. 500 here I come. I just wish it was warmer than 20F in the morning already!

I should try this and see if I get a slight bump in horsepower. I hung with a AWD V6 Passat the other day in a traffic light drag. I have no power adders either.

450mpg...sounds like it works. I will definetly be doing this, i currently testing the engine braking vs. neutral coast. It looks as though the neutral coast is winning. I will let you guys know as soon as i am done.

It does work cause the end of the snorkel is small and restricts airflow. Adding the K&N drop in is icing on the cake.

put a cup of water on your cup holder and maybe fill it up to 1" from the top. Now drive everyday without spilling. I bet cha your mpg will increase!!!! Trust me, if there is a way to improve the mpg, the car factory would have thought about it. Havent you guys seen myth buster?

Just gassed up today 438 miles on 10.772 gallons first shutoff click was 10.1 gallons but I keep going slowly to get almost another gallon in. The low gas light came on at 10.0 gallons used according to he ScanGauge and at fillup it said I had used 10.7 gallons which pretty much matched what it too to fill it.

originally I thought nuetral coasting was always the way to go.
But after reading some forums turns out some cars do have DFCO. Ours is one of them! So technically in gear off gas is using less fuel than ideling in neutral. But it depends on the situation whether or not you should do it. If you need to hold your momentum as far as possible while coasting nuetral is best. But if you have a stop coming up at the bottom of a hill or need to control your speed anyway then in gear off gas is more effiecient . Here's a discussion thread on the yaris forum.

if you do a lot of highway (no traffic) and accelerate very slowly, I think 400 miles is easy. Especially if you keep it at lower rpm

400 miles per tank would be easy if you could maintain 45 mph on level ground for 400 mile non stop. Where ya gonna find a road like that and have that much time to spend going 400 miles? LOL

Not as slow as you might think. I probably average about 65 mph on the freeway (when its not stopped or just stop-and-go, anyway!). I also have a "10-70 Rule" - I wont go over 70 mph for more than 10 seconds if I can help it. Sounds goofy, but it obviously works! Higher speeds kill gas mileage in these cars.
But its also a matter of using a light foot and taking off easy, and coasting whenever possible.
This last tank I just drove "normally" and got 396 miles at about 37.6 mpg. Obviously, my "gas-miser" habits must still kick in even when Im not really trying to go for high mileage!
The bottom line is - it aint rocket science; anybody can do it - it just takes some discipline and the commitment to keep at it.
(And I will be the first to admit that after all these gas saving runs, I was dying to stand on the gas pedal a bit! )

Doing 70 plus drops my mileage down to 32mpgs. If I stay under 70 it goes up to about 37ish.

car manufacturers should make a button to limit acceleration of a car to get the best mpg so you can just step on the gas. Then you can turn it off. (kinda like sport mode and economy mode on BMW but make the economy's acceleration really really slow lol).

You guys have to understand that neither myself, ICE4ROG, or akxb are just taking cross-country runs to accomplish these numbers!
I'm getting 400+ miles to a tank commuting to and from Los Angeles in rush hour traffic, both directions! That means intense traffic jams, sitting still for minutes at a time, constant stop-and-go, - the whole ball of gas-burning wax!
