Default Replaced Front Windshield

So, I went down to San Diego this past weekend. Besides the fact that it took over four hours to get there from LA (i'm seriously considering learning to fly...), I got a huge crack on my fron windshield on the way back.

I saw this huge rock (or one of those solid rubber ball) bouncing off the road. I timed it so it doesn't land on my car and I swarved to my left. But, with the last bounce, it came toward me and left me with huge crack on the 1/3 of my right side.

Need less to say, I decided to get it replaced. and instead of going with aftermarket windows, I decided to go with factory part. So, I ended up paying $750 (tax not included).

I just got my car back this morning... and I get this huge engine sound sipping in... Also, I noticed on the top left corner of the windshield on the inside, the rubber seal is all sticking out...

I am so waiting for the service to call me back...

you guys had any experience replacing windows?

Also, if you know any good shops in the Valley area of LA, please let me know. I can't shake off this feeling that I am getting ripped off everytime I take the car to the dealer....

I had the same thing happen to me. Huge rock hit my windshield and smashed it. Had it replaced through my insurance company at no charge. Came out good as new.

You might want to invest in something that your auto insurance company offers... it's called FULL GLASS COVERAGE.

$750... that's a new transmission, my friend, not a weindshield. You must have money to burn.

On many policies glass is handled differently than an accident claim. It's at least worth a call to your agent...

I took your advise and called the insurance company. And they said if the damage is less than the size of a dollar bill, they would cover it 100% without any penalties or premium. But, because my damage is bigger than the dollar bill and the entire needs to be replaced, they can't do it...

Okay... enough of this "my insurance is better than yours" crap! :P

Like I said, my insurance said they don't cover it if it needs to be replace. And since it costed me less than $1,000, there is no used in using my insurance...

Anyways, here is rest of the story on what I had to go through with the dealer...

Sneak Preview...

They butchered the job...
