Default Scion tech certification?

Does Toyota/Scion require special certification for the techs that work on my Scion...if they ever do.

I don't want Harry ham hands putting my new clutch in. Flat rate for a clutch change might be 4 hours, but the untrained monkey..it might cost me 8 hours. Funny how that works....

Dealers are required by agreement with the respective district distributors but not obligated by law to use Toyota Certified techs and Master techs. The agreement is passed down to dealers doing warranty work in order to guarantee service and warranty reimbursement from their distributor and/or TMS and in order to be allowed by the brand to perform warranty service. Now TMS require from all distributors to use Toyota certified Techs and Master Techs but in the same way are not obligated.
My opinion they should be. But in the same way TMS is not 100% owned by TMC and that sucks!
So you can demand a Toyota Certified Tech, and if it is not provided... change dealer

Wow, that's REALLY correct! Very nicely said bro!

The only special Scion training is for those members of a dealership's staff that come into contact with customers. If you're on the other side of "the wall" in service you need no extra training to work on Scions.

The techs dont NEED the extra training but Toyota has online technical tests in their learning system. Ive taken the tests and they are fairly in depth for the vehicles....
