Default Scoping the scene.

I am looking seriously at buying a xB. I just want to know what to look out for, what are the pluses, what are the minuses, and am I going to get any crap, because I am over 35? I am actually looking at one, because of the interior space, and the mpg. I have a couple other vehicles, and this one would become a daily commuter.

i dont think there is anything to -look- out for except for maybe dealers selling scions with crazy options that you may or may not want on your xb. that and they're slow heck i am 28, do what you want, if there was an over 35er at a meet i would talk to them just like any other xb owner. welcome and good luck with the car if you get one.

there is nothing wrong with an older person buying one, just as long as yuour not the 75 year old lady that bought an xA.

i love these posts where people think age makes a difference. who cares if old fogeys buy these machines? will you feel embarassed? more power to them i say.

toyota simply should not have changed their name, kids would have bought this car anyway.

there is no scene, except stupid meets where kids show off their mods, this will probably die off in the next year. the markup on mods is ridiculous, dont buy any mods from the dealer, do it after market, or better yet none at all.

Who are you calling an old fogey, you young whippersnapper.. :D Back in my day we had never seen a toaster with wheels before

The funny thing is, I went to the Auto Show with a bunch of old fogeys my age, and a bunch of us really liked the car. I took the brochure into work today, and the young college interns that we have, didn't like the looks of the car.

I'm 33 with two kids + one on the way and I'm getting an xB in Hot Lava 'cause I like the color and figured the kids would enjoy the interior illumination and color-changing 6-CD. I chose the car becaue it is roomy, cheap (you never hear roomy and cheap in the same sentence), has great standard features (ABS, traction control, airbags, CD, power windows), gets great gas mileage, and handles well.

I'm not getting any additional options and I could care less what anyone else thinks!!!

I say go for it! Best of luck.

Just do it! I'm 49 and I guess I must be in the top 2% of old fart owners, but I could care less what anybody thinks. I've been different my whole life. I got used to it. Get this, I hate cheese. Won't touch it. You ought to see the looks I get at Domino's, Pizza Hut, or CiCi's when I order a pizza with no cheese. Doesn't bother me though. I'm happy, I'm doing my own thing, not bothering anybody. Go ahead and get the box, it rocks!

If you went to a meet you would find that its not a bunch of kids. Scion corp. sponsors gatherings to promote the company name. Yesterday after the KIIS FM GTG the group went to speedzone( gokarts). Just because you dont want to mingle with other owners doesnt mean you should discourage anyone else from giving it a try. I dont have any mods on my xb, I still had a good time.

You're buying the car, not the hype. Fact is, the xB is a very useful tool for drivers of any age. This 46-year-old likes his xB just fine!

The only downside for it as a commuter is the ride. If you travel rough roads it will loosen your fillings.

The BIG plus is Toyota build quality. Standard air, power bla bla bla...
The minus are options that you can get aftermarket for a lot less money. Oh ya, those shifty eyed dealers as previously mentioned can be bad too.

Factory sun roofs and cruise control are not offered on the XB.

Right now, Mazda Protege 5 is on its way out (replaced by the 3). You can get a good deal on one of those with factory cruise control, sunroof, alloys, 4 wheel disk brakes for a good price now. But do you trust the Mazda build quality? Will you sacrifice a little room for cruise control? It's up to you.

Powerwise, the XB is right in there with other models in it's class. Don't let the 108HP fool you.

Why do people ask us to help make up their minds? Oh well.
