Screw in tire

Screw in tire
I have a screw in my right rear tire, the guy at the dealership said that it could not be repaired, and the only solution is to buy a new tire. A friend of mine that works at another dealership says that it definately can be repaired. The pressure is droping about 2-3 PSI perday.
My tires are 205-40-17 low profile.
So does any one know if it could be rapaired...or would I have to buy a new tire.
Thanks in advance

Whether it can be repaired or not depends on the size of the puncture. If it is too large to be patched safely, then the tire will have to be replaced. What will most likely determine that is the individual company's policy, because it's a liability issue if the repaired tire goes out and causes an accident or whatever. My advice is to replace the tire, just to be safe. How many miles do you have on them? If it's over about a third of the treadlife, you will probably have to replace all four tires, just to keep the wear even.
Oh, and get that damaged tire off! Use the spare until you get it repaired or replaced. It may look ugly, but it's a lot better than you or someone you care about ending up in the hospital, not to mention the potential damage to your vehicle should it be in a collision.
Should this maybe be moved to Tread&Butter?

Duh its the dealer, they dont typically fix alot if tires. Take it to the shop that sells your particular brand of tire. Typically if the hole is larger than 1/4 inch it cant be patched. Not many srews are that size, if its only losing that much air a day its most likely not to large. Also the only way to be sure is to actually take the tire off the rim and look at it from the inside. NO one and I mean NO should be telling you it cant be fixed unless they have done this.... the exception to this would be if its a cut to the side wall then its probably a lost cause. The other thing is if its still the original tire its probably under warrenty, you shouldnt have to pay full price.
