Default shift **** boot too short

so i got a new razo 117 shift **** and it feels awesome, but upon hooking it up i noticed the shift **** boot doesn't reach the shift ****. how do i fix this?

can i get under the boot somehow to raise it up? it'll reach my shift ****, but it won't stay up there. do i have to buy something else? a clip perhaps?

any info you got is much appreciated

Turn the chrome peice around on the boot. That should get it closer.

not that simple.

the plastic chrome-looking piece turns, but so does the whole leather boot with it. and since the bottom of the leather boot is attached to that silver looking bottom piece, the chrome-looking piece only turns so much.

there's also some sort of clip or bolt underneat the boot about an inch or so underneath the chrome-looking piece. i tried turning that to but couldn't notice much of a difference.

any other ideas

You just need to go to Wal-mart and get a Boot-stretcher, the one with the green handle should work just fine.

The chrome piece has a little wire ring clip on the bottom so you'll have to remove your center plastic cover by taking out the screw in the cup holder (in the back) and pulling up at the front (where the shifter is) it should pull right off. then you can lift up the whole thing an get a better look at that chrome piece.
It is in a cone shape so by flipping it it will get you closer to the ****. Just be careful and you wont break anything.

Yes it is that simple. No need to pull the center plastic cover compeletely. Just pull up on the sliver trim peice that the boot attaches too. Just remember to take your **** off first. Turn your boot inside out and remove the metal ring thats holding your chrome peice on the boot. There should be enough fabric there to allow you adjust the boot some more. You will see that the chrome peice is cone shaped also.

My shift **** had the same issue. There is a simple fix. Snap the silver bottom boot ring out of the console. Pull the boot inside out up over the shifter ****. Slide the boots ring up against the bottom of the shift ****. Hold it there and install a 1/4 wide wire tie strap around the shifter shaft to hold the chrome ring against the shift ****. If you want to be double sure it doesn't slip down apply a little strip of 2 sided tape to the shifter shaft first the then tie strap over it. Pull the tie strap very tight before cutting off the excess. Pull the boot back down into place and snap it back into the console. I did not use any 2 sided tape under my tie strap and it stays in place pretty well tho every now and then it slips down just a little.

sweetness!!! thanks guys!!!

i didn't snap the silver ring out, but i snapped the leather boot out of the silver ring. and i ended up just putting a rubberband around the shifter shaft to hold up the chrome piece and it worked out all the same.

the leather boot does look a bit stretched in 5th gear but its all good

the finished product

thanks a billion ya'lls
