side curtain air bag
I was wondering can you have side curtain air bags installed on the Xb. I was at the dealership the other day and the salesman said that I could get it added to the car even though it is not on the option list. I Usually don't believe saleman. The reason being is alot of the time I know more about the car then they do. I hope this is true.
i've heard no such thing and as per this post:
https://www.scionlife.com/forums/vie...t=side+airbags
scion has no plans for these options....
to have them done privately...well...idk i don't think i would trust that....airbags are very sensitive and when not used properly can be FATALY dangerous!!!!

I feel sorry for the service managers who are the ones that have to break the bad news to the customer that the salesman told them a fib.
Agreed.
This is impossible.
Besides, why worry about side curtains when Toyota didn't even bother to give you any kind of side air bag whatsoever?
But, hey, at least it looks cool!
You'll make a nice looking drooling retard when you get catastrophic head injuries smashing your head into the side window because Toyota though a bumpin' stereo would appeal more to the kids than the side airbags that come standard in even a $9000 Hyuindai.
Awesome.
That is the only thing I hate about these cars. It disgusts me that Toyota was too cheap to include side airbags, even as an option. It's really NOT right. You need all the safety you can get in a car this size in a world full of Tahoes and Navigators.

You can however add high quality window tint. This provides a small degree of side safety. The xB side windows are huge. Window film will provide some protection from glass explosion and resulting injury in a crash. I feel a little safer with my tint. :D RPM
How can you say Toyota was "cheap" with this car?! If you were going to take all the crap on an xB and put it on a Corolla (which you can't do), you'd have a vehicle that stickers for like $18,000!
Sure you can get a hyundai for $9000 and have side airbags, but then you're stuck driving a piece of crap with nice airbags. (I have to give them credit, hyundai has really stepped it up over the past several years, but they're not even close to Toyota or Honda, let's be real).
The Scions get great crash ratings regardless of whether or not they have side airbags. And face it, you're getting a lot of bang for your buck.

Toyota radically underestimated the desire for side air bags.
Even with the tC, which has the option, the wait for my car is radically longer (up to 3 months, they're saying now, as opposed to being able to drive off with one from the next allocation) because I want one with SAB.
Nothing to do with "too cheap" - they'd make more money if they had them available as an option. I think they thought the buyers would be too cheap to want them.

Thanks. Good thing for the panoramic moonroof, but I think SAB will be kinda useless for the spongmonkey there. A t-bone collision would probably snap him in half.
