Default thinking of buying an xb, a question and an observation....

hello,
test drove an xb, its allright....its big inside, versatile....really slow, but i like it.
i have a heavily modded cobra, a heavily modded evo, a vtx1800, and the wife has a van. :D ...i need something for winter, but still fun to drive.

has anyone purchased either of the aftermarket armrests offered elsewhere on this board?? i just cant own a car without an armrest....im wondering if theyre any good.

one observation i made while sitting/driving the xb....the seat, the flat part u sit on, seems to almost be tilted backside higher than the front side, if ya know what i mean...i kept having a tendancy or feeling that i was sliding forward in the seat cause of the angle....anybody else have that or know what imtalking abt??

thanks

There are a number of threads about the quality of the armrest, seems like for the most part they work like they should and they look OEM.

As far as the seat goes, just don't cram your ___ all the way in the very crevice of the seat. I keep the seat back tilted back and I SIT closer to the front edge of the seat, and I find that to be quite comfortable...

I had the same feeling with the seat cushion. After driving the car for a few weeks, that sensation went away. I think my fat ___ mashed the cushion down to where it felt normal after awhile.

I raised the front of the seat with some longer bolts and some flat washers. Helped a lot.

thats what i was thinking, scionman.....maybe half inch spacers in the front of the seat bolts will give a slightly tilted back seat position....
did the dealership do it for u, or did u do it??
thanks much

The only thing the dealership did was take my check and hand me the keys. There's no way I'd pay them to do anything like this. No offense, I'm just a DIY kinda guy if I can and its worth my time.

I just used some large flat washers. I took a bolt out of the passenger seat, drove to Lowe's and matched the thread pitch and size. Bought two bolts that were an inch longer and a dozen flat washers that fit the bolt. I put 6 on each side of the driver's seat and it helped a lot. Oh, Yeah, Don't forget to put the bolt back in the passenger side.

There are a lot of armrests popping up lately. However, I haven't seen one that is worth over $100 to me yet. Maybe someone will do it right or I'll finally break down and make my own...

Default front seats lumbar area uncomfortable

I have a 2006 xB Polar White automatic.
I'm 5'8", hubbie's 6', son's 6'4", sister 6', Dad's 6'3": we all find the lumbar area of the front seats to be like an inflated lumbar support pad in the full out position & HATE it.
Love the car for the headroom & legroom which is often a problem as some of us are long in the legs while others are long in the torso.
So we can all fit in the xB, but only Mom who's 5'4" in height finds the lumbar area of the seat comfortable.
Any suggestions other than racing seats (hate the look of them)?
Heck, I'll pay to have decent seats for our backs!

Very Strange??? My hubby is 6'3" and thinks the seats are near perfect after the front spacer mod was done.

Default '06 Polar White xB reply on seats

sorry for "shouting" in bold type in my previous post...
but the font as I type my reply is miniscule- I MEAN TINY- so trying to be considerate, I enlarged the font.

so, everyone thinks by tilting the seat angle using washers will alleviate the lumbar over padding problem?

It put the seat in a sweet spot compared to the stock position. Plus it's a very cheap mod that does so much.
