I think my dealership gets all the Camo ones! HAHA Right down the street is another Camo xB that looks ALOT like mine. People ask me all the time- "Do you live over on such and such street?" No that is my twin.

xB's sell here really really fast. They havent had a xA in a long time and cant move the tC.

Strange how popular they are............

i agree with you, but my integras and rsx i had are made over seas also. i did not have to wait 5 weeks just went down to the dealer picked 'em up... but i did have to wait 2.5mos for my type R.

pulled from the news section.

Mark Templin, Toyota's Scion chief, told The Wall Street Journal the Japanese automaker intends to keep the brand a relatively small franchise that sells only about 150,000 vehicles a year for the foreseeable future.

That is a load of crap. Scions dont come to dealerships with options. It just doesnt happen! Salespeople like that just make me angry and make Scion look bad. Congrats on the new Scion though. We have been delivering order vehicles in about 3-5 weeks. We cant get them here to keep on the lot and we were the #1 dealer in our region last month. All orders unfortunately...

I'm not so sure. In the first four blocks of my drive to work I see six xBs, all owned by the people who live in the neighborhood.

It's getting to be as bad as VW bugs in the '70s!
3 dealers told me what I said about the limited production.
I've no doubt that is what they told you, but the fact is that everyone who wants a Scion gets one, perhaps with a bit of a wait, for about the list price. Limited production is where there is a set number of cars and no more regardless of demand. Plymouth Prowlers are a good example of limited production. Another is the Audi Sport Quattro, of which 214 were built to meet the homogulation requirements of Group B rallying.

Toyota wants to sell every car they can. Having demand exceed manufacturing capacity doesn't mean "limited production" no matter how they spin it. It just means that the design was unexpectedly popular.

Any vehicle that the salesman doesn't have on his lot is automatically "in short supply". They want you to buy what they have, not find what you want.

I've read on SL that the Toyota bB replacement will hit Japanese showrooms in Jan 2006. Saw a pic even (looks totally different than the current bB/xB).

If that is the case, the manufacturing line is under going or completed validation. Moving on to production of the new bB. Possibly new machines or retrofits. Storage areas for new parts. Upgrade the SAP system (if they use SAP). So this means that they are making us our xB's at the same time prepping and manufacturing the new bB. Creating contraints in labor, parts, and storage.

Default Yeah here in Utah XBs last 2 hours on the lot or all ready

Sold. When i purchased it took me 5 trips to the dealer over a month and low and behold they had two white ones the 5sp striped out one was being purchased as i was there and the other loaded pw xb auto i purchased. Seems the camo green lasted on there lot four weeks? Guess green was a 90s color. Xas seem popular as well. They have 4 TCs loaded up with options and cant sell them if they where more like 15k they would be gone.

I got mine within two hours after a test drive. However I had to get BSP which was my second choice after PW. If I had received a new PW I would have had to wait over a month, for an auto that is. Another local dealership had one, but in 5spd.

I ordered my '06 Black Cherry xB on Aug 3rd and picked it up on Aug 17th. I feel fortunate. Altho it did come from Oregon to near Detroit with 198 miles on it. I was bummed but still exstatic.

Peruzzi, maybe it's not supposed to happen... but it did in our case. Maybe at least when they first came out? My husband wanted a tC... never seen one in the area before. He ordered one that the dealer had already ordered and it had all the sports package stuff on it. We figured that it was because they wanted a sporty one on the lot to show people. (They didn't even have a photo of the tC yet... especially with the sports package on it.)

Now my xB came as plain as can be and they added what I wanted on it. My only complaint was that they had 3 weeks from the time I ordered it to get the different parts in and they wanted until after it arrived to order them. Hence, I had to take it home and go back to get the stuff added. That seemed like a silly way to do things.

MamaGoose...

yeah when they get to the dealership we are supposed to have one of each model(xA,xB,tC) tricked out as a demo model. But regardless, they dont come from the factory with the options. We select them here and do the add ons here too. I have a SW tC coming in that Im gonna totally load up! I'll post some pics when its done. You wont find a better tC on a lot...

I have posted this information before, but it seems like a good place for a repost:

From:
http://wardsauto.com/ar/auto_scion_sell_cars/index.htm

The xA sold 15,419 units in the U.S. during the first seven months (of '05). The tC sold 42,767 and the xB saw 31,964 deliveries in the period.

"We thought xA would be the volume leader, but it turned out to be the opposite," the spokeswoman says. Sales of the xA stood at 18,028 units through September (of '04), while the xB sold 35,188.
--------------------------------------------------------

To put it in perspective, Kia sold about 61,000 Sedona vans last year. Dodge/Chrysler sold almost 300,000 mini vans.

The xB is a great vehicle that has gained in popularity and demand has jumped with the price of gas in the past month. Based upon the info that I am reading here and the product on the local dealer lots, demand is running about 1-2 months ahead of production delivery.

Baring political unrest and another disaster of some type we should see a dip in the price of gas soon. Gas price futures are dropping and within a few months facilities producing home heating oil will shift back to gasoline.

It seems reasonable to me that demand will slack off for economy cars and production will catch up by early '06. So, if you believe that you can get more than you paid for your xB, now may be a good time to sell.

You guys are lucky! I ordered a TCM stick in June, waited 8 weeks, only to find out that my car was built as an automatic!!!

I had to reorder, and wait an additional 5 weeks to get my car...now an '06.

Oh well, I WAS the first 2006 xB from Dayton Toyota/Scion in NJ!

Wow; guess I didn't know how lucky I was. I walked in on a Saturday afternoon and filled out the paperwork for my automatic BOP. They didn't have one in stock but were able to get one from another dealer; I drove home with it Monday after work.

I just ordered my BSP 5 speed xB on Tuesday and I was told it would be about a month and a half....that puts me in the middle of november *sob*....oh well, at least i have a deposit on it so i'm guranteed to get one at some point =0]

Anyhow, this is my first post here...i can't wait for my Scion! I was previously a mitsu guy, had a couple of galants set up for autocross and an eclipse, but i dont like mitsu's new styling. I though the xB was the ugliest thing around when i first saw it, but after seeing a couple of them, and especially after driving it (i love the go-cart style handling), i can't wait to get my hands on one.
