Default Trouble with my xB RS2.0 exhaust.

Well, with 34,710 miles I got a surprise. I was turning onto a side street Sat. morning and my exhaust all of a sudden got very loud. I looked in the mirror and saw something in the road. Stopped and looked and sure enough my tip broke off at the weld and fell off.

Took it to the dealer that afternoon and they checked it out and are to call me back today after they check with Toyota on it. Glad I found this thread as it will help if they give me any trouble with warranty. I doubt they will as they have been great in the past.

The sound it has now from outside the vehicle is great but the problem is that because it ends before the vehicle does it is way too loud in the vehicle.

******WELL IT FINALLY HAPPENED***** Driving to work and I get almost all the way there and I notice that my exhaust sounds a little louder...I didn't see anything in my mirror and no cars honked...I get to work, walk to the back of my car, and BAM the exhaust tip is G O N E...I tried to go back and find it but i did not locate it...

I called Mark at Camelback Scion and he is working on it...

Everyone, check your welds closely...I would bet that your is starting to crack also!

r u guys running with or without the baffle/silencer?? would hard driving cause cracks due to the heat from the exhaust or r the welds just so bad that regardless of driving habits it cracked n fell off...im hoping mine doesnt begin to crack ever or atleast it cracks before my warranty is over hahahaha

How are people making out with this? Is Toyota making things right for you?
Are the dealerships replacing them for free? We haven't had a problem so far, but if it does occur I'd like to know if I'm in for a fight.

The universal problem is that the dealerships order a $35 silencer instead of the whole
exhaust because that's the part number listed in their system. I even told them
they would and pointed out the problem in advance and they still ordered the wrong
part. I would check your exhaust before the warranty expires. Reference the photo’s
I posted earlier of what to look for.

WOW, this really sounds like a can of worms for Scion and all the RS2.0 owners. I wonder if Scion will let people opt out for a different exhaust so this won't reoccur after all the warranties wear off. I'm sorry but 20 k for an exhaust is not right no matter how hard it's used. Hope they come up with a more permanant solution to this cluster F.

when mine went out, i walked into my dealer and told what was up. They tried to tell me that i backed intoa curb, but no sir

i whipped out the paper that should be in all your owners manuals that says the part number and all for the dc exhaust

That's funny Big Bird. Backing into a curb would not cause those kinda cracks anyways. It would just bend the rest of the exhaust and push it forward. Dealers are funny with the excuses they come up with to weasel out of warranty work. They act like they are paying for it instead of Toyota.

Driving home from work last night the end fell off AGAIN. I was going about 70 when
it got very load in the car. I looked in the mirror to see if anything fell off and didn't see
anything but when I pulled over, it was gone.
