Updated XB and Nissan Cube
Hey,
I know there has been much talk of the XB being replaced after the 06 model year. I was chatting with with a Scion rep who couldn't be specific but said that they are looking at updating the current model instead of a full replace (not sure what "update" vs "replace" really means). Does anyone have any more/accurate info. on when or what this might look like (beside the T2B monstrosity)?
Secondly, I've heard rumors about Nissan bringing over their redesigned Cube/Cubic (http://www2.nissan.co.jp/CUBE/Z11/05...EPT/main1.html) to compete with the XB. Does anyone have info on that? I'm curious to hear what people think about it vs the XB (albeit with much speculation as to what the Cube would actually be like once it got here).
Ultimately, I love the XB but am reluctant to buy right before Scion makes a big change or before Nissan comes to town...what do you folks think?

I think whatever style the Nissan Cube has, is mooched off of the xB, and those features that are original are just ugly. I'd have to see it in person to be definate, but at this point I dont care for them (who needs to cart around 5 other people?)
Although I do really like the t2b; the interior dash colors are a bit crazy, but I like that they're all lcd. But overall, I really like the t2b concept, a sort of mesh between the xB's outrageousness and the tC's good looks.
I plan to buy an xB very soon, and although I kind of share the same feeling in buying a car the last year its made, the xB has excellent resale value that I don't have too many worries should I want to trade up later.

the t2b will NEVER see production concept car pure and simple. it doesnt even run right....
the nissan cube isnt coming to the states as of right now...
and yes 06 is the last xB model year. it's replacement may cater to the same segment of car but will more than likely have another motor , different styles of doors , and look different .
not only will it not be called the "xB" it isnt a new generation of it it's a totally different car.

the abortive concept ts2. Why it fails for me: The cruel coffin look is dank. The chopped top makes short windows and a claustrophobic look for peeps looking IN
This is Cruella DeVille's kind of car updated for the new world order. yuk.
I prefer a puppy dog to a bulldog set on wheels. Or is that a fish head on the car? It's tough but nasty looking. yuk again.
The cube will never make it to America. We are getting an entry level sedan and hatch from Nissan the concept was posted somewhere.
the bB is being dropped in japan in 2006 dont know exactly and I have been trying to figure out what the replacement will be since what ever it is we might get

A couple of days ago, someone, posted pics from a magazine that is suppose to replace the Bb in Japan. Still has similar look but slightly more rounded. Of course I cannot find it now that I'm looking
. As far as the Cube goes, I kind of like the idea of the rear seats being reconfigurable and I
the laminate wood floor! In fact, I'm planning on getting some laminate and covering the back of the seats and storage area so that when the seats are folded down for additional storage the entire "floor" is "wood".
Also, with the public freshly reminded that gasoline may at any time zoom back over $3 per gallon -and much more-, I think Toyota would not substitute in a much larger box (they'll keep a box in the Scion lineup, right??).
From my vantage point I wish the box came with the option of an even smaller engine. For flatland driving a 1.3 or even 1.1 liter engine would serve me fine. Heck, I could have a blast with an engine of .7L displacement. For sure! I know because I drive a 20HP Model T for years. It weighed just what the xB weighs. And while underpowered on the expresseway, I had no problem keeping up with city traffic.
And it was immense fun to drive an underpowered car; a sporting challenge in its own right. Like the old beetle was too.

A rotary style turbo charged diesel? Interesting concept, but I am not sure about the compression ignition cycle working in a rotary in cold weather...would require some tricky 'winter warming equipment', along with the prerequisite emission scrubbing equipment already required with any wenkel based rotary currently on the market.
