hey i am going to purchase headers, and exhaust for my xb, and was wondering what does it take to burn out a clutch, many say that a simple intake, exhaust, header combo can overpower the stocker...... i have a 5 speed, and got a deal on exhaust and a header i cant resist.............also on another note, i have a dc sport exhaust for sale, will take 250.......... paid 380...... let me know pm me or email me whatever is convinent.............thanks................n
i totally doubt you will add more than 20 horsepower with an intake exhaust and headers. you'll be fine with the stock clutch. it's all in how you go and ruin your clutch. if you repeatedly drop the clutch and spin the tires, your asking for trouble, not only will it wear the clutch, but it puts amazing strain on the tranny and the cv joints. it's probably just as bad as slipping the clutch all the time when you shift. or keeping your foot on the clutch pedal
i can't resist spinning the tires every once in a while in my tC, i know what your feeling

This will NOT be a problem, trust me.
Torque is what burns out a clutch.
Headers, exhaust and a cold air intake are going to add like 0.3 lbft of torque to a car that has 105 lbft of torque in the first place.
I wouldn't sweat it at all.
Seriously.

aggresive shifting...not rpm matching (like what 99% of people do when trying to race)
its not all due to the drivers poor ability...

A clutch should last 100,000 miles. Cut that number in half for each driver that learned how to drive a manual on it.
They do wear a little from normal driving, but so do tires, brake pads, air filters....
They are a "wear item". They aren't supposed to last forever.
If someone completely wears out a clutch while learning to drive a stick, they shouldn't be driving a stick. Then again, they probably shouldn't be driving at all...
