Default What to get at dealer what to get myself?

Hi all,

In my quest to figure out the xA for me I was wondering what options are best gotten from the dealer and what is best gotten after-market. Pros for me dealer are whatever I get from my salesman I could probably finace. I get if after I will have to pay for it out of pocket which means saving up. But I have seen some stuff way cheaper. Like the security kit $500 from the dealer I have seen online for 289. That is a huge savings to me. Or I could just buy a security kit from someone else. My thoughts right now are a trd setup w/spring and shocks and struts, figure mght as well go dealer as long as they don;t try and rape me on price
Any thoughts out there?

buy it BONE STOCK

dealers are raping children across the country right now..

you may not be able to finance the stuff but that's a GOOD thing.. would you want to pay interest on parts that make the car LESS VALUABLE FOR RESALE? NO!

the only option i'd suggest if you want, it cruise..

TRD springs are mediocre.. expensive.. not at all worth it.

Bone stock..... Dealer pricing is kind of insane on the add-ons for the Scions. I just saw one at the lot and it had a scion graphic on the side that was almost $300 added to the price of the xb. Over $100 for floor mats!!! You could buy the best monster rubber mats for less than that,,, or even have some custom made for around there at your local trim shop. Interior lighting isn't that hard to do and there are lots of options when it comes to them.

You can basically pick up anything aftermarket or even oem stuff cheaper later on. If money is no object then go ahead and finance what you want if you don't feel like messing with it. I would recommend purchasing wheels elsewhere though.

By far the best option package is the Hot Lava Edition XB. Even when you break down the prices for that, it is still way above average for most things. Since you want a XA, stay stock!!! Shop on Ebay for great deals.

I bought my Polar White xA with the floormats and nothing else. The dealer "pre-installed" the mats. If I didn't want the mats, I'd have to wait a week or so to get my xA...

I have to agree... no dealer options. I put 17" wheels with 215/45 tires on my xA for about $800 and like them more than the TRD wheels the dealer sells. Eibach springs for $170 to my door + 1 hour labor and a front end alignment to set the toe. Intakes are about $130 now and make more power than the intake from the dealer, easier to install too.

I prefer a single CD so the base audio is fine for me.

I did get a Karr alarm/remote entry from the dealer for $200-not the best and I could do better with the aftermarket for cost and range but it was already on the car.

Just pick your color and transmission and get out of the dealership...

The TRD strut bar is really cheezy, it's made from a "U" channel and is pretty flimsy. I'm sure the springs are good but over priced for what you get. TRD wheels are pretty heavy, that's bad for performance-more weight for the suspension to control, more weight to get rotating to accelerate and stop rotating when braking.
