Default What kind of paint...

...do people use on their tails to make them red?

I know it wont be another year or two before I get my xB, but I'm not into the TYC ones.

If you mean like that, its a vinyl over lay. The first 2 links are for Blue Batmobile while the picture is from Randode.

Candy red then several coats of clear. I'm not feeling it either. I did mine with red tint film and I stripped it off after a couple days. They end up looking too much like an Astro van tails. Some like it but not me. Good luck with it.

You may want to find some commercial window film in red. I've heard that works well

Wow...When I read the first few posts I was thinking 'why the hell would anyone want to paint the tails red? They look much better/more unique as they are'.

Then I saw the red tail on the BCP xB and it cemented my original thought. Looks like dog____.

Then I saw Max's. Now THAT looks good.

Guess it depends on the color of the car. Nice box Max.

Look in these two threads for some good info on how to DIY.

xActly, it's not JUST the color of the car, it's attention to detail and design feel.

Doing the entire assembly with an outside surface red coating does not look near as good as selectively coating the inside so it doesn't look like some sort of plastic toy taillights.

There is enough variation and 'interest' in the effect on Max's that they look good, and probably would with any body color...

Nice job, Max!!!

Thanks, Tomas!!!

I left the reverse lights and the reflector clear, and candied the stop and turn lights, as well as the flange around the edge.
