On a side note… my left ankle has been killing me for no apparent reason. It started hurting about 10 days after I got my Box. Anyone else out there with Carpal Boxel Syndrome
Damn! I have Carpal Boxal Syndrome too! I couldn't figure it out for a couple of days until I finally whittled it down to the Box. I'm 6'5" and I think it's the way that the seating position makes me clutch. We took a long trip in it last weekend and I think I've finally got my ankle worked in.

A grade 8 bolt is made of high strength alloy steel. A class 8.8 is medium strength heat treated steel. Class 10.9 is high strength steel. I think there are a few more, but I still don't know how they all compare to each other or to stock bolts. If I am wrong please correct me, but I'd hate to see someones seat rip out in a crash.
i would hate to see an xB get in a crash

you got cookies??? can i have one? pleeeeeeease, i'll be your friend...

the tape has two functions.
it hides the washers...
it makes it easier to stack them. they wont get all messed up when you go to bolt the chair back down.

the only thing that would be better then the tape is heat shrink but i don't think it comes in a big enough size.... too bad

i dont think it mattrers how many washers you use, i think thats the size that correctly fits in the hole. i used a 50mm bolt and 10 washers, but the 10x1..25 refers to the diameter and thread of the bolt. I think that is how it goes.

I'm going to try the mod this week - I was thinking about getting some of that "foam pipe wrap" stuff to wrap around the washers to make it look nice; you can even get it in a nice dark gray color that matches the carpeting. And you can cut the stuff to fit no matter how many washers you use. Actually looks quite "pro" when you do it that way, I think.

how know how the #'s work i was just wondering what length of bolt (ex. 1" or 1-3/4" etc.) i would need... bc i was going to use the same # of washers as max

well i used 10 washers and that took a 50 mm bolt which comes out to be 2 inches so i would probably go with a 1.5-1.75". Just stack the washers up beside the new bolt and see if it will fill the space. compare it to the old bolt to see the thread length you need and there you have it.

Yeah, it's one that kinda fell off the radar screen. Here's a thread from a year ago talking about it:
