Default ::White xB's do you have rust color spots in your paint???::

i have a 2K6 PW xB, bought it brand new in Feb of 2K7, since the second or third time i washed it i have noticed like rust color spots on the paint, now i know this is not rust because its on the flat parts of the rear bumper also, i am noticing it on the hood near the squirters, on the hatch at the top, and on the rear bumper, its not bad at all and you cant tell unless you are like me and notice even the smallest of imperfections, let me know, i am curious if other PW xB's have noticed this...

You have some sort of metal piece fallout. It happens to white vehicles all the time. It's tiny pieces of steel particles that rust when not removed. Sort of steel dust that gets attatched and rusts. Try using some clay to remove.

Right, but not necessarily from the exhaust. I used to get it all over my work van. It may be from a factory or something in your area.
The junk should come of easy with the clay bar. Never scrub hard on Scion paint. It is CRAP! Just keep it waxed often so the stuff won't re-attatch in the future.

i have noticed these little spots on my 06 PW box ... i agree about them being some sort of "metal dust" ... maybe residue left over from assembly ? they will come off using light pressure when washing ... i then put wax over the area. wierd, but common apparently

I'm curious as to why it only happens to white vehicles. I've never seen it on any other color.

may be due to commonly known "rail dust". micro steel particles that attached to the paint in shipping. clay bar will remove it after washing. if it comes back, its prolly environmental. its easier to spot on white since any color other than white shows up against the white while it is more difficult to spot against colors. the hot lava owners will prolly never see it.

Default Take it to the dealer

A good clay bar can cost you $50 dollars. Some dealers will take car of this for free. Its worth a try. We take car of stuff like that all the time.

[quote="Blacktoast"]A good clay bar can cost you $50 dollars. quote]You should try shopping at autozone or advanced. Claybars are about 20 bucks most everywhere.
BTW, You may take care in what you do. Most techs don't. I would never trust my soft paint in the hands of a dealership.

Default I was talking commercial bars

I was talking commercial bars. When I was working for a detail company I would buy clay bars designed to last for an extended period of time. We thought it was crap, but we compared to one we got at the autoparts store. It lasted allot longer.

I have this problem as well. I first noticed this on my mom's 95 Mazda Protege (it was white as well).

I'm gonna pick up a clay bar to see if it removes this stuff. I only see it on the back bumper of my box.

maybe cause i've always owned white cars. fall out is common. you can feel it on other colors just can't see it. it's just metal particles in the dust. so it's something you can't avoid unless you keep the car covered in the garage. just gotta keep cleaning it. and when it gets bad clay um. but try feel other color cars you can feel it.
